Position Summary:

Position: Building Operator

Type: Long Term Project

Location: TBD

Schedule: 7x7 or 14x14 (Subject to Change)

  • Vacation pay at 6% - paid out bi-weekly upon start date

Role Summary:

This role would be supporting a long term facilities maintenance contract.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Daily facility inspections.
  • Kitchen equipment repair & service.
  • To assist in the development and implementation of a comprehensive maintenance program for the asset assigned to maximize value while minimizing expenses.
  • Perform predictive and preventative maintenance program on all building equipment and HVAC systems within operator scope.
  • Coach, train and provide troubleshooting support to the maintenance team.
  • Prioritize and schedule all work to meet deadlines within areas of authority.
  • Obtain contract costs and estimates for various work when requested.
  • Coordinate contractor access where required.
  • Field questions promptly and professionally.
  • Basic plumbing, carpentry, electrical and appliance repairs in suites and common areas.
  • Ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Legislation guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned by Operations/Management.
  • Perform equipment safeguarding for repair; LOTO and support permit preparing.
  • Monitor preventative maintenance requirements completed by qualified third party subcontractors (i.e. fire alarm inspections, backflow preventer inspections, etc.)
  • Update preventative maintenance records including CMMS system (SAP).
  • Respond to emergency after hour calls and participate in a rotational on-call service.

Education & Experience:

  • Possess a current Class 5 Building Operator or 4th Class Alberta Power Engineering/ Building Operator Certificate with ABSA (Alberta Boilers Safety Association)
  • 5 or more years experience in commercial/camp building maintenance
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's license
  • Valid CSTS and OSSA (Oil Sands Safety Association) orientation or BSO, a must
  • Experience supervising the work of others
  • Excellent knowledge of building systems including but not limited to; commercial kitchen equipment, and fire alarm systems
  • Knowledge of relevant Electrical Codes

    • Confined Space Entry
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Good problem-solving skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Ability to work with little supervision
  • Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations
