About this opportunity:

Cenovus is currently looking for a Maintenance Technician, Electrical at Foster Creek. The Maintenance Technician, Electrical is responsible for safely completing work, which includes, troubleshooting and repairing of electrical equipment, maintaining equipment records, and ensuring all electrical activities are carried out in a safe and environmentally responsible manner. Activities are planned and implemented optimally and efficiently while aligning with all Cenovus and regulatory, health, safety and environmental codes, practices, policies, regulations and is in alignment with the Cenovus Operational Integrity Management System.

This is a camp based position in Foster Creek that requires being on a rotating scheduled on-call list where residing at camp will be required while on-call.

While this vacancy is currently at Foster Creek, this posting could be used to fill vacancies at any of the three Oil Sands Operations sites (Christina Lake, Foster Creek, or Sunrise, based on business need).

  • This is a full-time employee position working a shift of 12 hours per day, 7 days on, 7 days off Thursday to Wednesday.

  • This position is a shared role with a cross-shift.

  • This is a Camp based position and requires you to be on a rotating scheduled on call list.

  • Foster Creek has full-service camp facilities.

  • Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations.

  • Foster Creek is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton as well as bus transportation to site from La Corey, AB.

What you'll do:

  • Perform analysis, trouble-shooting and functional testing on electrical systems and devices and associated infrastructure related to all onsite electrical equipment. This includes, but is not limited to, electric motors, variable frequency drives (VFDs), multilin motor starters, electrical power distribution equipment including operation and maintenance of up to 4160V systems, emergency power generation, UPS equipment, cathodic protection systems, electric heat trace systems

  • Align with all approved maintenance standard methodologies and procedures

  • Ensure quality standards are met for electrical system additions/replacement and maintenance of related devices

  • Align with the prioritization and classification system for work order completion

  • Focus on a centralized approach to strengthen our One Cenovus philosophy and enable us to charge costs, be more efficient and effective, and better handle our risk

  • Work collaboratively with operations, and maintenance planners and coordinators to resolve internal issues, balance competing priorities to reach timely and unified solutions

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

  • Must possess Alberta (or Interprovincial) Journeyperson status in the Electrical trade with a minimum of 5 years' experience in a Journeyperson role

  • 5 plus years of experience preferably in the Oil and Gas industry in a maintenance role

  • Self-motivated individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced team-oriented environment

  • Ability to demonstrate a dedication to team objectives relating to safety, the environment and efficiency

  • Strong organizational, and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently are required

  • Dual Ticketed instrumentation/electrical status and proven experience would be considered an asset

  • Experience with Maximo, CPW, SAP, Thermon EHT Systems, and VFD programming

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate
