About this opportunity:
Upstream Oil Sands Operations is seeking an Amine Claus Plant Operator for Foster Creek's SAGD facility. The successful candidate will play a vital role aiding in the commissioning and startup of a new facility comprised of Gas Compression/Sweetening, Amine Regeneration, and Claus Sulphur Recovery processes. After which they will continue the safe and effective operation. This is an exciting opportunity for individuals looking to be part of multi-functional activities supporting both equipment management and facility operations. Work Environment:
Foster Creek
This is a full-time employee position working a shift of 7 days on 7 days off, 12 hours per day, Wednesday to Tuesday. Alteration to schedule will be required during training in Lloydminster
Foster Creek has full-service camp facilities
Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations
Foster Creek is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton
You will be required to work in a wide variety of conditions due to the nature of the operation (i.e. working at heights, H2S environment, in extreme weather conditions, in confined spaces etc.)
What you'll do:
Assist in commissioning and startup (i.e. ESD\Trip checks, valve operation, etc.)
Maintain and troubleshoot all area-specific equipment to optimize performance to meet production targets as per the facility guidelines
Perform condition monitoring including sampling and testing per area responsibilities, as well as complete area operations records
Execute maintenance activities aligned to the site's operating philosophy, and ensure on-site maintenance workers are advised of Company's requirements, policies and practices
Operate the facility in a safe and effective manner, while working collaboratively as part of the operating team
Provide assistance, mentorship, on-the-job training and assessments to new employees as required
Align with all HS&E requirements in the performance of this position's responsibilities
Who you are:
Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:
Legally authorized to work in Canada
Minimum 3rd Class Power Engineering certificate required; a 2nd Class Power Engineering Certificate or significant progress toward completion of a 2nd Class Power Engineering Certificate are both considered assets
5+ years of experience in the oil and gas industry, preferable with Gas Compression\Sweetening, Amine Regeneration and Claus Sulphur process operations being considered an asset
Experience in high sour environments preferred
Experience in operating glycol systems, control panels, electric drivers, compressors, pumps, sulphur and associated processes and systems is an asset
Mechanical proficiency and strong troubleshooting skills
Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Understanding of safety and regulatory standards and procedures
Possess a valid Class 5 drivers license (driver's abstract is required)

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments
For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 drivers license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate
