About this opportunity:

Cenovus is seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Senior Industrial Hygienist to join our Industrial Hygiene and Occupational Health team. This role will be responsible for identifying, evaluating, and controlling workplace environmental hazards to ensure the health and safety of employees at our Foster Creek SAGD Facility. The Senior Industrial Hygienist requires a strong technical background, experience, passion, and organizational skills to implement and administer planned and responsive exposure assessment and surveillance activities. The successful incumbent is required to work both independently and as a member of a team while exhibiting collaborative behaviors.

Work Environment:

Foster creek

  • This is a full-time employee position working a shift of 7 days on 7 days off, 12 hours per day, Tuesday to Tuesday

  • Foster Creek has full-service camp facilities

  • Depending on your place of residence and your shift rotation, bus and/or air transportation to/from site is offered from designated departure points in select locations

  • Foster Creek is serviced by flight Hubs in Calgary and Edmonton

What you'll do:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of workplace environments to identify potential health hazards

  • Develop and implement strategies for hazard control and risk management in support of Cenovus IH related standards and practices

  • Craft and develop site procedures, tools, and information materials pertaining to the prevention, protection, and control of chemical, biological, and physical hazards

  • Collaborate with safety teams to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety regulations and standards

  • Support the requirements of the Cenovus Operations Integrity Management System (COIMS)

  • Advise management and employees on regulatory compliance, conformance to standards, and health hazard and risk assessment and control requirements

  • Prepare detailed Industrial Hygiene technical reports including observations, sampling methods results and discussions and recommended corrective actions

  • Interpret and apply related jurisdictional regulations and requirements

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • Post-secondary degree from an Industrial Hygiene program or program in a related field

  • Certified Industrial Hygienist or Registered Occupational Hygienist designation

  • 8+ years direct IH, occupational health and safety program development experience

  • Experience reporting and communicating technical information to workers, management, and collaborators

  • Proven proficiency in qualitative and quantitative exposure assessment methodologies and strategies

  • Solid understanding of occupational health and safety legislation in Alberta

  • Proficiency in computer software applications such as Cority and other IH data systems

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate
