Maintenance Planner

High Prairie, Alberta

We’re looking for a Maintenance Planner to join our High Prairie OSB division, located in High Prairie, Alberta. Our mill has recently undergone a major rebuild and modernization including the commissioning of a new continuous press which makes us the most modern OSB mill in North America.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

  • A strong technical background, preferably gained as an engineering technologist or as a certified journeyperson Mechanical or Electrical (though not required).
  • Experience in planning maintenance outages (minor and major) and turn-around activities and the ability to maximize and balance utilization of maintenance resources and minimize downtime.
  • Experience with the procurement of parts, sourcing, supplier selection, negotiation and purchasing parts/materials. As well as managing vendor relationships and cost management.
  • In-depth understanding of corrective, preventative and predictive maintenance practices, along with advanced skills in computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
  • Advanced computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Projects.
  • Experience leading teams in a production/industrial environment and ability to collaborate across teams.

Your ideal workday will look something like this:

  • You create work plans for servicing and repairing all mill equipment by identifying the necessary personnel, parts and equipment resources.
  • You collaborate daily with suppliers, vendors, and internal departments to support and oversee maintenance activities.
  • You apply your technical skills and manufacturing experience to build regular and turnaround/shutdown maintenance plans to keep the mill running it’s best.
  • You use your awareness of project management concepts to efficiently manage both major and minor maintenance outages.
  • You leverage your excellent planning and organizing skills to ensure staffing, tools, equipment and materials are in place to safely and quickly complete planned maintenance.
  • You understand the sourcing and procurement and process and know how to utilize the resources available to you.
  • You partner with departments across the mill to deliver excellent customer service.
