Richardson Oilseed is one of Canada's oldest and largest fully-integrated oilseed processing and packaging operations with three facilities across Canada. In addition to producing bulk canola oil and meal, our food products division produces a wide variety of canola-based margarines, oils, and shortenings for the industrial, retail and foodservice markets.
Working with Richardson opens to door to a world of possibility. We currently have an opportunity for a Chief Power Engineer at our Lethbridge, AB location.
Responsibilities:
Understand and comply with all workplace health and safety requirements, company policies and procedures and general workplace rules
Participate in the day to day health and safety program by working in a safe manner at all times:
Always using the required personal protective equipment
Ensuring that authorized work is completed safely
Utilizing required controls to prevent risk of exposure to hazards
Participating actively in incident investigations, training, and other health and safety initiatives
Reporting all unsafe acts and conditions and all incidents, near misses and workplace injuries/illnesses as per company procedure
Supervise the overall operation and maintenance of all plant utility systems to ensure reliable and efficient service
Plan, schedule, and coordinate regular preventative and shutdown maintenance for all utilities and site services
Provide effective leadership to the department and make a positive contribution to the continuous improvement of the department
Manage fire safety systems and equipment maintenance to ensure applicable safety procedures are followed
Assist in project management for capital projects regarding utilities and site services
Ensures that all equipment certification, inspection and tests are up kept, scheduled and recorded
Monitor department and utility budgets
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
A valid 2nd Class Power Engineering Certificate
Minimum five years' experience coupled with post-secondary education and extensive managerial and technical experience of all utilities and comprehensive supervisory experience
Excellent communication, organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills
Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision making skills
Supervisory experience in a unionized environment
Strong commitment to health, safety and environment
Direct involvement and expertise with employee health & safety and food safety programs an asset
