Richardson Oilseed is one of Canada's oldest and largest fully-integrated oilseed processing and packaging operations with three facilities across Canada. In addition to producing bulk canola oil and meal, our food products division produces a wide variety of canola-based margarines, oils, and shortenings for the industrial, retail and foodservice markets.

Working with Richardson opens to door to a world of possibility. We currently have an opportunity for a Chief Power Engineer at our Lethbridge, AB location.

Responsibilities:

• Understand and comply with all workplace health and safety requirements, company policies and procedures and general workplace rules

• Participate in the day to day health and safety program by working in a safe manner at all times:

  • Always using the required personal protective equipment

  • Ensuring that authorized work is completed safely

  • Utilizing required controls to prevent risk of exposure to hazards

  • Participating actively in incident investigations, training, and other health and safety initiatives

  • Reporting all unsafe acts and conditions and all incidents, near misses and workplace injuries/illnesses as per company procedure

• Supervise the overall operation and maintenance of all plant utility systems to ensure reliable and efficient service

• Plan, schedule, and coordinate regular preventative and shutdown maintenance for all utilities and site services

• Provide effective leadership to the department and make a positive contribution to the continuous improvement of the department

• Manage fire safety systems and equipment maintenance to ensure applicable safety procedures are followed

• Assist in project management for capital projects regarding utilities and site services

• Ensures that all equipment certification, inspection and tests are up kept, scheduled and recorded

• Monitor department and utility budgets

• Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• A valid 2nd Class Power Engineering Certificate

• Minimum five years' experience coupled with post-secondary education and extensive managerial and technical experience of all utilities and comprehensive supervisory experience

• Excellent communication, organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills

• Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision making skills

• Supervisory experience in a unionized environment

• Strong commitment to health, safety and environment

• Direct involvement and expertise with employee health & safety and food safety programs an asset
