About this opportunity:

Cenovus is looking for an Operations Maintenance Specialist to act as the critical liaison between operations and the maintenance department. Primary responsibilities include prioritizing work and co-delivering the maintenance schedule while considering operational capacity. This role is also accountable for overseeing quality of work notifications, identifying operational steps required to achieve plan, and understanding of site/equipment priorities. The Operations Maintenance Specialist will lead initiatives to achieve key operational objectives and maintain smooth, efficient plant operations, and providing backfill coverage for Senior supervisors as needed.

Work Environment:

  • This position is located in Lloydminster and requires the successful candidate to live in the area

What you'll do:

  • Ensure health, safety, and environmental performance, targeting zero accidents, no harm to people, and no harm to the environment

  • Demonstrate a high level of understanding of control of work requirements and perform assurance activities to uphold safety standards

  • Prioritize and schedule maintenance work with Maintenance and Scheduling teams, integrating operational steps for safe and efficient execution, while accounting for site/area risks and capacity

  • Lead or support the site emergency response team (ICS roles) and contribute to plant start-ups, shutdowns, and optimization efforts

  • Provide backfill coverage for Senior Supervisors and additional resource support for turnaround efforts as needed

  • Maintain a high-level understanding of site-wide process equipment and associated risks to inform decision-making and risk assessments

  • Coach and mentor operations personnel, supporting their professional development and performance

  • Participate in site budget planning, Asset Care initiatives, and daily/weekly operations and maintenance meetings to align activities with operational goals

Who you are:

Our ideal candidate will have the following minimum requirements:

  • Legally authorized to work in Canada

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; trade or technical background is an asset.

  • 12-18 years of experience in refinery, petrochemical, or industrial fields

  • 3+ years of leadership experience with demonstrated mentorship and leadership abilities

  • 3+ years of experience in maintenance or project scheduling and planning, with a solid understanding of risk management and prioritization

  • Strong working knowledge of process flow diagrams and safety management systems, practices, regulations, and standards

  • Demonstrated mentorship and leadership abilities, with excellent communication, collaboration, organizational skills, and a high-level understanding of control of work activities

As this position has been identified as safety sensitive, employment of a final candidate selected for this position will be conditional upon successful completion of required pre-employment medical and alcohol/drug assessments.

For this position you will be required to maintain a Class 5 driver's license, a satisfactory driving record, and adhere to the appropriate Company policies and guidelines. A driver's abstract will be one of the background checks requested in the pre-employment screening for the final candidate.
