Under the direction of the Manufacturing Manager, the Mechanical Designer will provide technical drawings of equipment and control all documents released for equipment manufacturing.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provide technical drawings of equipment and control all documents released for equipment manufacturing.
  • Provide department leads with assistance and leadership in supporting required changes and updates.
  • Assist the Manufacturing department with developing specifications for test requirements on equipment and refurbishments.
  • Contribute to improving the design processes to increase efficiency and consistency in design packages.
  • Ensure correlation and compatibility between hydraulics, pneumatics, and P&ID and process schematics in control designs.
  • Verify designs through design calculations before execution.
  • Provide technical support for field issues.
  • Maintain communication with all groups on equipment progress.
  • Review equipment failures and supply solutions to increase the quality of the equipment.
  • As part of the manufacturing steering group, direct the structure of kick-off meetings and reviews to ensure all requirements are in place and targets are agreed upon for new and refurbishment of equipment builds.
  • Conduct research into the feasibility, design, operation, and performance of structural and mechanical integrity of the equipment.
  • Actively drive research and development on all equipment builds to increase reliability and efficiencies.
  • Participate in training and development activities.
  • Other related duties as required.
Qualifications - Required
  • Degree/Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or Trade certificate (journeyperson) in Heavy Equipment Technician. A combination of other related education and experience will be considered.
  • Good organizational and time management skills; ability to manage multiple priorities or projects and meet deadlines.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Office).
  • Experience with SolidWorks platform.
  • Able to work overtime, accommodate a flexible schedule, and travel to meet the needs of the business.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.

Qualifications - Assets
  • Understanding of mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and fabrication systems and components.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing Lean, Kaizen, Six Sigma and/or Agile project management principles.
  • Able to work autonomously and be proactive in addressing issues.
  • Previous experience in oilfield operations.
