Under the direction of the Logistics Manager, the Logistics Coordinator is responsible for supporting activities related to the movement and distribution of people, supplies, and materials within the organization, as well as prioritizing, coordinating, and dispatching service activities in the field across Magnum's multiple service lines. This role ensures that company requirements and customer needs are met or exceeded in the course of daily operations, optimizing Magnum's entire transportation cycle. The Logistics Coordinator role encompasses three levels of seniority based on skillset and experience with Magnum's various external service lines, as well as the ability to support multi-regionally, with Magnum's regions being Canada and the United States. Magnum's external service lines include Oilfield Cementing, Fluid Services, Soil Stabilization, and Isolation Technologies. Logistics Coordinator 1's are expected to gain a working knowledge of field operations in one of Magnum's service lines, acting as entry-level field support staff to become familiar with crews and equipment, as well as job scope.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Gain entry-level field work experience in Magnum's core service line of Oilfield Cementing, as well as Magnum's other various service lines, as applicable, up to 4 months of the year.
  • Create and build all call sheets for internal hauls (unit moves and chemical and bulk product hauls), parts movement, hotshots, and external multi-regional work for all of our service lines, including imports and exports.
  • Act as a power user for the department's various systems and be able to troubleshoot, train, and support other logistics and field staff, as needed.
  • Ensure the accuracy, timeliness, and consistency of the information in the operational information systems, such as Motive for people management, GFI for equipment management, and Spira for customer management.
  • Operate GPS and communication equipment to correctly identify and determine location of company resources.
  • Set logistic plans that meet customer and delivery requirements, as well as hours of service rules.
  • Organize and coordinate the logistical movement of materials, commodities, people, and any additional resources, as needed, ensuring efficient and timely job initiation.
  • Document actions by completing job summaries, tickets, and other applicable records as required.
  • Determine efficient and cost-effective methods of moving bulk goods from one location to another.
  • Handle insurance, customs, permits, weights, dimensions, cargo, fees tickets, and other regulatory requirement paperwork at a local and multi-regional level.
  • Maintain current knowledge of relevant legislation, political situations, and other factors that could affect logistics.
  • Apply critical thinking as it related to system and process improvements, support changes as they are rolled out.
  • Coordinate and communicate with other departments to facilitate efficient daily operations.
  • Maintain and update department materials and resources, including training documents.
  • Interface with oncoming relief crew to communicate the status of all field staff and other information pertinent to the oncoming shift.
  • Dispatch and act as the primary contact for internal hauls (unit moves and chemical and bulk product hauls), parts movements, and hotshots.
  • Dispatch and act as the primary contact for multi-regional work in the Oilfield Cementing, Fluid Services, and Soil Stabilization service lines, including imports and exports.
  • Dispatch the transportation of materials or equipment cross border, including customs / brokerage requirements.
  • Coordinate and dispatch any transport work Magnum is hired to complete for 3rd party companies.
  • Act as a point of contact for 3rd party vendors Magnum hires for internal hauls, as needed.
  • Receive and acknowledge requests for service from customers and maintain accurate job summary records.]
  • Direct and control the activities of service staff on a day-to-day basis to maintain or exceed customer satisfaction.
  • Collaborate with managers on staff and equipment availability to create and communicate efficient schedules.
  • Provide assistance and support to the employees in the field, as needed.
  • Follow up on outstanding customer requests to ensure timely completion.
  • Identify, investigate and resolve customer complaints and issues.
  • Ensure that all drivers and service staff receive rest or reset breaks, as required.
  • Participate in weekly and quarterly sessions with the Technical Services department, predominantly the Magnum Continuous Improvement Team (MCIT), on ongoing initiatives.
  • Provide technical and operational expertise on all job types, including troubleshooting and problem solving on job problems, as needed and based upon established workflows.
  • Act as a point of contact in initiating any Emergency Response Plan as needed and per established company processes, expectations, and workflows.
  • Dispatch and act as primary contact for work in the Isolation Technologies service line, as needed.
  • Participate in training and development activities.
  • Other related duties as required.

Qualifications - Required:

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a dispatch/customer service or relevant industry related experience.
  • Excellent customer service and spoken and written communication skills.
  • Experience and ability to use computer software. Proficient experience in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and records management software.
  • Strong typing skills. Typing coursework or proven self-taught proficiency.
  • Able to work overtime, be on call, accommodate a flexible schedule, and travel to meet the needs of the business.
  • Specific to field support work: able to be on call 24 hours on a 15 days on 6 days off rotational schedule, remaining fit for duty at all times, physically capable of moving/lifting heavy objects up to 23 kg., bending, standing, gripping, sitting/driving, walking, and climbing repeatedly for extended periods, able to work outdoors for extended periods of time and in all types of weather conditions, able to work in congested or confined areas, and with exposure to loud noises and vibration.
  • Legally eligible to work in the country the role is based out of.
