Department: JUMP! Summer Programs

Location: 100 Mile House, British Columbia

Reports To: Executive Director

Preferred Start Date: December 15th, 2024 - April 15, 2025

Contract Term: 21-month contract (December 15, 2024 - September 15, 2026) with potential for extension

Eligibility: Candidates must have experience working and managing outdoor education programs in North America. Canadian citizenship is strongly preferred.

OUR VISION FOR THIS ROLE:

JUMP! is seeking a dynamic, experienced, and visionary Program Director to lead our transformative summer programs in the heart of the British Columbia wilderness. As the Program Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of JUMP! Canada, overseeing all aspects of program operations, from recruitment and training to logistics and participant experience. Your passion for outdoor education and your ability to inspire others will be essential to our continued success.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


Program and Operations Planning

  • Compile and analyze End-of-Program Reports from 2024, identifying key takeaways and actionable insights to inform 2025 program planning.
  • Collaborate with the Enrollment + Marketing Manager to ensure marketing strategies and messaging align with program offerings and organizational goals.
  • Start to draft the Master Operations Schedule (MOS) for all 2025 programs, detailing timelines, activities, and staff assignments.
  • Draft Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for all aspects of JUMP! Canada operations in preparation for 2025.

Community Engagement and Partnerships

  • Manage ongoing relationships and communication with existing schools, community organizations, and partners.
  • Confirm bookings with schools and community groups for 2025 programs, ensuring contracts and agreements are finalized.
  • Support community communication and outreach efforts, including participating in events and initiatives that build trust and visibility.

Staff Recruitment and Onboarding

  • Lead the recruitment and onboarding process for program staff, including:
    • Identifying staffing needs based on 2025 program plans.
    • Ensuring compliance with certifications (e.g., first aid, Class 4 licensing).
    • Developing onboarding materials in collaboration with the Business Admin.
  • Develop a draft training plan to be implemented online in April + and in person in May

Fundraising and Resource Development

  • Oversee a Fundraising Drive for Site Development Projects, collaborating with the Business Admin and Enrollment + Marketing Manager to secure funding for key upgrades (e.g., dock repair, high ropes).
  • Develop partnerships with local businesses and donors to support community outreach and program enrollment.



QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND EXPERIENCE:

Essential Qualifications:

  • Proven leadership: Demonstrated ability to lead and inspire teams, manage large-scale projects, and make strategic decisions.
  • Outdoor education expertise: Significant experience in outdoor education, camp management, or a related field, including program design, logistics, and curriculum development.
  • Organizational and time management: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Financial acumen: Proficiency in budgeting, financial management, and strategic planning.
  • Interpersonal skills: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Technical proficiency: Familiarity with relevant software and tools, such as Google Suite and project management tools.
  • Physical fitness: Ability to work in demanding outdoor conditions and participate in physical activities.
  • Valid driver's license: Possession of a valid Class 4 driver's license (or willingness to obtain one).
  • First Aid and CPR certification: Current certification in First Aid and CPR.
  • Commitment to sustainability: Passion for the environment and a dedication to sustainable practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Cultural competency: Experience working with First Nations/Indigenous communities.
  • Remote work experience: Experience working in remote and wilderness environments.
  • Advanced degree: Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience in a related field.

CONDITIONS FOR EMPLOYMENT:

  • Remote Base Camp Living: As a program staff member, you will live and work on-site at our beautiful, remote base camp, located 20 kilometers west of 100 Mile House in the Cariboo region.
  • Child Safeguarding Commitment: At JUMP! Foundation, child safety is paramount. To ensure the well-being of our participants, all applicants must:
    • Sign a declaration of any criminal convictions.
    • Provide three professional references who have known you for at least two years.
    • Undergo a thorough background check from your home country or most recent country of residence.
    • Adhere to our Child Protection Policy and conduct guidelines for working with children.
