In this position, you will working for EllisDon's Equipment Division - Oxford Builder's Supplies Inc..

Oxford Builders Supplies Inc. is a full-service equipment and maintenance supplier, providing a broad range of new and used equipment to the construction industry. Tower cranes, construction hoists, scaffolding, safety fence, concrete formwork, architectural specialties along with numerous other construction necessities. Oxford Builders Supplies is committed to providing the industry with the best quality equipment and excellent service.

You as an Tax Accounting Administrator at Oxford Builders Supplies will:

  • Review AR & AP invoices and payments for sales tax compliance
  • Prepare and file sales tax returns (HST/GST, BC PST, Manitoba PST, & Saskatchewan PST)
  • Assist members of the business with sales tax compliance questions
  • Assist with sales tax audits and conduct sales tax research
  • Internal Audits on sales tax reports to ensure compliance
  • Keep current with sales tax legislative and administrative changes and communicate any impact to the organization
  • Ensure internal processes surrounding tax compliance are adhered to
  • Train and support AR Manager and AP Manager to ensure compliance within departments
  • Assist with the month-end close and year-end audit processes
  • Set up tax accounts and procedures for any new business locations and create sales tax training aids for branch use
  • Support the Area Accountant and General Accountant with other general accounting tasks
  • Support internal divisions with AR & AP related questions and provide training as necessary
  • Work with Area Accountant on project-based tasks related to General Accounting and month end financial close

Is this the right role for you?

  • Diploma or Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, or Accounting
  • 3+ years of relevant experience, preferably in a construction related environment
  • You have a working knowledge of accounting databases
  • Knowledge and experience with BC PST legislation, applications, and filing (considered an asset)
  • Ability to work well in a team and individually
  • You have excellent written and oral communication skills
  • You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a high attention to detail
  • You are well organized, proactive and detail-oriented individual able to self-manage and work in a dynamic fast-paced environment
  • You possess strong computer skills, specifically Microsoft Excel
  • You are comfortable working in a shop environment 5 days a week at the Oxford Builders Abbotsford Shop (37045 North Parallel Rd, Abbotsford, BC V3G 2H5)
