Your Role on our Team: 

The Project Manager is responsible for planning, developing, coordinating, and managing onsite construction to all required engineering standards, codes, specifications, and design instructions while ensuring the project is on time and within budget.

In this role, you will:

  • Develops contracts and negotiates revisions, changes, and additions to contractual documents;
  • Prepares progress reports and issues progress schedules to clients;
  • Effectively communicates with both internal and external partners and clients;
  • Ensures regular quality control and plan accuracy inspections;
  • Act as liaison between Owner/client and General Contractor (GC) / Construction Manager (CM);
  • Manage information flow between Owner, clients, partners, the GC/CM and other project stakeholders;
  • Oversee partner led projects from construction start through occupancy and deficiency resolution;
  • Ensures execution of projects in the construction phase, according to the approved business plan;
  • Helps prepare and manage tender packages to procurement;
  • Helps prepare and manage the budgets while tracking costs daily;
  • Helps prepare and manage project schedules while tracking progress daily;
  • Manages review of design drawings and specifications while providing feedback on costs and practicality;
  • Reviews and contributes to client/in-house design information;
  • Review and certify progress payment applications;
  • Issues regular status reports and ensures resolution of material issues that affect project delivery;
  • Site visits and field reviews;
  • Conducts post-project reviews;
  • Reviews the requirements for change notices, authorizes change notices and change orders;
  • Manages consultants to ensure completeness of design documents and that construction schedules and plans are met;
  • Provides day-to-day project leadership, coaching, and mentoring to both internal and external consultants;
  • Builds, develops, and grows business relationships vital to the success of the project;
  • Other duties within the scope, spirit, and purpose of the job, as requested by management.

We would like you to have:

  • University Degree (Architect, Business, or Engineering degree) or College Diploma in a relevant field, preferably in engineering or building technology. PMP certification is an asset;
  • A minimum of 5 years of related work experience;
  • Experience coordinating or managing construction projects and consultant team;
  • Ability to read and understand design drawings for all disciplines. A proficient understanding of both concrete wood frame construction trades and construction techniques;
  • Knowledgeable in the area of construction safety and productivity, with ability to work safely in a construction environment;
  • Understanding fundamentals of contracts and experience in managing contractors under the terms of a contract is an asset;
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all types of staff, including laborers, technical, professional, and management;
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), Outlook;
  • Proficient with Procore;
  • Proficient with Newstar;
  • Knowledge of MS Project is an asset.
