Your Opportunity
The Water Resources Team has an opportunity for a Senior Hydrologist or Water Resources Engineer in the Burnaby, BC office. The successful candidate will join our growing team of water resources specialists who value teamwork and enjoy the company of their colleagues.
Your Key Responsibilities
Mine water balance models, mine water management plans and water management infrastructure designs
Hydrological modelling and incorporation of climate change into predictive models
Assisting in environmental flow needs (EFN) assessments, fish habitat loss assessments and designs related to habitat compensation plans
Managing tasks and projects according to approved scopes of work, and deliver quality reports on schedule and within budget
Contract document preparation, including detailed design drawings and specifications, and project permitting
Providing supervision, training, technical direction and mentoring to junior and intermediate level staff
Contributing to and leading business development activities, including proposals, pre-qualifications, and relationship building with clients and prospective clients
Interacting and interfacing with clients and environmental regulators
Consistent demonstration and promotion of policies and procedures for HSSE, including client-specific training (if applicable)
Qualifications
Your Capabilities and Credentials
Registration as a professional geoscientist or engineer with Engineers and Geoscientists of BC, or qualifications to obtain this registration at the start of employment
Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills, including technical information exchange with clients, engineers and scientists, government agencies, as well as non-technical communication to the public
Disciplined approach to project execution and technical excellence, and desire to grow in your career in a challenging environment that fosters self-improvement though leadership, mentoring and a diversity of experience
Leadership in striving to continuously improve technical performance
Education and Experience
Master's or Doctorate degree in Geoscience or Engineering or related field.
Minimum 10 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education (e.g., advanced degree) and experience.
Experience with GoldSim, R, hydrologic modelling would be an asset.
Typical office environment working with computers and remaining sedentary for long periods of time. Field work may include exposure to the elements including inclement weather. Ability to lift and move items and equipment up to 50 lbs.

The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.
