At SMS Equipment, our Electrical Technical Support Representative play a key role in evaluating projects according to plan. They will be assisting with the development and management of projects, budgets, plans and schedules relating to electrical assignments. We are looking for a candidate who will exercise good judgement and develop an excellent understanding of procedures. This role is located in Elkford, BC.

The salary range for this position is $100,000 - $110,000.

The shift rotation is 7x7, 12 hour days.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Serves customers by providing information and resolving technical problems. Acts as the liaison between SMS Equipment, Komatsu and the customer. Resolves problems by asking questions and clarifying customer's concerns. Documents and communicates observations of customer equipment
  • Assist in developing project plans, priorities, budgets and schedules ensuring full compliance with applicable regulations, guidelines and procedures. Attend monthly JoiFUL meetings, daily mine meetings as required, quarterly meeting support.
  • Provides technical support and training to ensure the success of both the preventative and predictive maintenance programs. Leads task force committees on product issues. Facility and equipment maintenance, repairs, experimental setups and improvement modifications.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will either be a certified Electrician or possess an Engineering degree paired with a minimum of 3 years experience in Engineering and/or the Heavy Equipment Industry. Other requirements include:

  • Technical knowledge of maintenance, repair, and fabrication of heavy equipment
  • Electrical experience and/or reliability in the heavy equipment industry is preferred
  • Komatsu shovel and loader experience is an asset
  • Knowledge of OH&S regulations and equipment inspection
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills are required.
  • Exemplary interpersonal skills including the abilities to influence others and engage other resources
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license and reliable transportation are required
