McElhaney has a unique opportunity for a Civil Engineer to join our team in Fort St. John, BC. In this role, you will work alongside our senior engineer who has 15+ years of experience. Not only is this an amazing opportunity for you to step into a key role that will help you take your career to the next level, but you will also work with a team of professionals who are fully capable of supporting you from design to construction. In this role, your primary responsibilities are to lead diverse civil projects, provide detailed design support in production of engineering design packages, assist in proposals, project management, and delivery of local and regional projects to both private landowners and to a variety of local municipalities and government agencies.

Responsibilities
Provide detailed production of engineering designs, drawings and specifications for various civil projects including municipal, land development, water and wastewater, site drainage, road works, bridges, and infrastructure upgrades.
Work from preliminary concepts and sketches into engineering designs, plans and project informational requirements, using Civil 3D, as well as other technical software as needed.
Coordinate and assist in the preparation of documents required for approvals, prepare development and construction cost estimates, tender documents and contracts, and coordinate with other team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved.
Complete field inspections to monitor the quality and progress of the work being performed.
Assist with Construction management and contract administration
Provide technical mentorship and guidance to junior engineers and technical staff.
Requirements
Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited university with a 5+ years’ experience in a similar role
Registration in good standing as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng. or eligibility for registration) in British Columbia.
Proficiency in the application of specialized design software such Civil 3D
Experience in a consulting engineering environment an asset, but not required
Experience with basic structural engineering design would be an asset, but not required
High productivity, attention to detail, and effective verbal and written communication skills
Ability to work well in a collaborative, team environment.
