The Opportunity: McElhanney has an exciting opportunity for a Survey CAD Technician to join our growing team in Fort St. John, BC. We are seeking a strong communicator who has excellent drafting skills and experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D. As a true team player, you will have to the opportunity to collaborate with Land Surveyors, project managers, LSTs and survey technologists on a variety of innovative and rewarding Survey and Geomatics projects. What You’re Fired Up To:
Contribute to the cost effective and timely production of survey drawings and designs that include legal survey, topographic, engineering, and construction layout plans.
Interpret field data to create accurate survey drawings and legal plans, which will include downloading and editing field data, interpreting field notes and sketches, and processing conventional, GPS and point cloud data using primarily Civil 3D, as well as other technical software as needed
Complete calculations as needed and prepare for drafting or client project reporting
Collaborate with team members to ensure schedules, budgets and quality control standards are achieved
What You’ll Bring To The Team:
Diploma in Geomatics and/or CAD from an accredited institution is an asset
Preference will be given to candidates with local experience in the survey and geomatics industry.
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D Software is required; experience with other CAD/Mapping/GIS software is an asset
Attention to detail and excellent communication skills (verbal and written) are required
Ability to work independently and maintain close communication within your team to meet deadlines
Experience with title research and accessing survey plans through LTSA is an asset
