WHAT WILL YOU DO?
Reporting to our Production Manager, you will oversee our Roasting and Packaging equipment maintenance and collaborate on engineering projects. This role is critical to ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our manufacturing equipment, as well as drive continuous improvement initiatives. You find the right balance of coaching and developing your team while ensuring they achieve high quality results. You will optimize department performance all the while ensuring safety and engagement.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintenance

  • Oversee the daily operations of the maintenance department, ensuring timely and effective maintenance of equipment.
  • Development and implement preventative maintenance programs to minimize downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Establish targets in equipment reliability and service standards, monitor performance against these standards and determine root cause for appropriately addressing issues.
  • Manage a team of maintenance technicians and tradespeople, providing direction, feedback coaching and training.
  • Coordinate with Packaging and Roasting to schedule maintenance activities and minimize disruption.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including work orders, equipment history and inventory management.
  • Ensure the maintenance teams is highly responsive and effectively supports Packaging and Roasting with maintenance related issues.
  • Ensure the health and safety of the team as well as following our food safe best practices.

Engineering Projects

  • Support the Engineering Manager and on occasion lead engineering projects from concept to completion, ensuring the project is delivered on time, within scope and within budget.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define project requirements, develop project plan and allocate resources.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, risk assessments and costs benefit analysis for proposed projects.
  • Oversee and support the design, commissioning and installation of new equipment and systems.
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations, industry standards and applicable company policies throughout entire project phases.

Continuous Improvement

  • Collaborate with the Continuous Improvement department to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement solutions to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
  • Stay update to date on latest industry trends, technology and best practices in manufacturing, maintenance and engineering.
  • Utilizing the Kaizen principles, foster a culture of continuous improvement with the maintenance team as well as with Packaging and Roasting.

Financial

  • Establish and oversee the maintenance budget including cost benefit analysis to optimize human and financial resources and prioritize spending in alignment with Kicking Horse Coffee strategic plan.
  • Manage the department scheduling in alignment with labour budget and maintenance plans.
  • Review and approve employee timesheets for bi-monthly payroll processing.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Certifications

  • Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or related field.
  • Project Management Professional certification is an asset.

Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in maintenance management including maintenance systems (work order systems, inventory management etc).
  • You love leading teams and supporting teams to thrive.
  • Experience in Manufacturing Engineering and managing projects is required.
  • Strong knowledge of maintenance best practices, preventative maintenance programs and reliability engineering.
  • Exceptional verbal, written and presentation skills including strong acumen in Microsoft Suite.

OTHER INFORMATION

  • This is an onsite position located in Invermere, BC.
  • This is a full-time, permanent position with working hours from Mon-Fri, 8am-4pm (with occasional weekends or evenings for coverage or project installations)
  • Physically agile with ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 50lbs, bend and navigate small spaces.
  • Legally entitled to work in Canada.
