Description

To recover food donations for the Foodbank and take care of property maintenance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Food Recovery Program - Daily pick-up of food donations from local donors
  2. Building Maintenance - Responsible for regular weekly, monthly and annual maintenance of building.
  3. Vehicle Maintenance - Responsible for regular maintenance and care of program vehicles.
  4. Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Certifications:

  • Completion of High School (an alternative level of education and experience may be acceptable)

Experience:

  • The successful candidate must have 3 months prior experience, including life skills

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • An understanding of and support for the Mission Statement of the Salvation Army in Canada
  • Excellent customer/donor service ethics including the ability to deal with the public in a friendly manner
  • A proven ability to work in a team setting as well as a willingness to take personal initiatives
  • The ability to adapt to change and interruptions to a normal work routine, and work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • A valid BC class "5" license with appropriate certification and proof of a clean drivers abstract
  • The ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • A willingness to adhere to a dress code of modesty, neatness and cleanliness
  • The successful applicant must have, or be willing to obtain, a criminal record check, clearance from the National Abuse Registry and be bondable

HOURS: Part-time 24 hrs per week Monday - Friday (Mornings)

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

  • Background check consent.
  • A clear vulnerable sector screening.
  • A clean drivers abstract.
  • Completion of our online Armatus Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training.
