Position Title: Plumber
Position Location: Royal Inland Hospital - Kamloops, BC
Position Summary: Inspect, install, repair, and replace pipes, fittings and plumbing fixtures to maintain domestic hot and cold water systems, heating water systems, drainage systems and hospital related plumbing fixtures such as water cooled patient care machinery, sterilizers, bed pan washers, macerators, etc. throughout the hospital including patient rooms. The plumber performs the preventive maintenance programs to maintain all aforementioned equipment in a good working condition.

You as a Plumber will:

• Install, maintain, and repair sinks, showers, toilets, water coolers, ice machines, and other plumbing fixtures as required
• Install, maintain, and repair chilled water, hot water, and glycol coils in AHUs, as well as heating hot water equipment, unit heaters, and fan coils, lawn sprinklers, and water treatment piping system for RO water, soft water, and de-ionized water
• Install, maintain, and repair patient care-related plumbing equipment and fixtures such as sterilizers, water-cooled machinery, bedpan flasher, and macerators
• Install, maintain, and repair minor steam/condensate devices such as steam traps, humidifiers, safety valves, pressure gauges, thermometers, sight glasses, etc
• Unplug sink, toilet, roof drain, floor drain and clear any drainage piping such as glass pipe, PVC pipe, or cast iron pipe, as well as repair or replace fixtures and fittings in drainage systems
• Respond to emergencies such as power failures, floods, and fires
• Complete preventative maintenance responsibilities and required documentation in accordance with prescribed the Preventative Maintenance Program
• Maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment, and make recommendations regarding the purchase of new equipment
• Update preventative maintenance records including CMMS system
• Ensure specified standards are adhered to in accordance with contract provisions
• Other duties as assigned

Is this role right for you?

• Valid Red Seal Certification or BC Journeymen
• College-level education or equivalent work-related knowledge of building operations and maintenance
• Minimum 5 years related experience in plant operations
• Works well within a team
• Demonstrated computer skills and experience of CMMS system
• Good communication and interpersonal skills
• Good problem-solving skills
• Good organization skills
• Ability to work with minimal supervision
• Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations
• Ability to perform duties that vary frequently according to assignment
• Ability to evaluate information against measurable criteria
• Ability to work within output specification standards and limits
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
