We are looking for a Maintenance Technician to oversee and coordinate large-scale electrical and HVAC repair tasks and projects, ensuring effective maintenance practices while enhancing the reliability, availability, and safety of our equipment. This role involves close collaboration with operational stakeholders and skilled trades teams to drive continuous improvement.

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent and working a Monday to Friday schedule, you will be:

  • Working safely in accordance with Rio Tinto safety standards - actively leading and engaging in safety initiatives promoting our safety culture.
  • Leveraging your knowledge and our powerful HMI diagnostics to detect problems, provide support to our maintainer and fix the root cause.
  • Be part of our preventive and predictive maintenance program with a multi-disciplinary team and help improve our tools to provide safe and reliable equipment.
  • Making sure that our maintainers have all the spare parts for efficient repairs and that the company is always on top of component obsolescence.
  • Working closely with the maintainers to improve their method, their tools and documentation for involving agile maintenance program that push the limit of reliability, availability, maintainability and safety.
  • Evaluating asset condition and carrying-out actions assigned on improvement plans.
  • Developing guidelines, specifications and standards to repair/ refurbish equipment.
  • Analysing KPIs and trends to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Developing your leadership capability with your involvement in leading maintainers and supporting Maintenance Supervisors

What you'll bring

  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team
  • Electrical Technologist Diploma, or Inter-Provincial Red Seal Trade qualification in Air Conditioning & Refrigeration or Electrical, or Power Engineering certification
  • Minimum of two years of relevant technical experience in maintenance
  • Proficiency in advanced troubleshooting and diagnostics
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Familiarity with MS Excel; advanced skills are an asset
  • Supervisory skills or experience are considered an asset
  • Basic knowledge of SAP or other maintenance management software

The base salary range for this role is $84,000 - $126,000 CAD in addition to allowances, bonus, equity, health or retirement benefits, and any other discretionary benefits offered at Rio Tinto. Our base salary ranges are based on role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by the skills, experience, and impact you bring to the role.
