What to Expect

We are seeking a highly skilled and highly motivated, mechanically inclined technologist with gearbox assembly, machining and metrology experience to join the geartrain development team. We work with the cross-functional teams (Design, Quality, Production, Sustaining, and Supply Chain) throughout the entire lifecycle of a product (from initial design through prototype development and into full production) to develop volume manufacturable designs and processes that will produce gearboxes The role of the Gearbox Manufacturing Technologist is to support gear development to produce world-class gearbox prototypes.

What You'll Do
  • Mechanical build of high precision gearbox assemblies
  • Design and build tooling, set fixtures, prove and run processes in gearbox assembly cell
  • Setup, run and maintain assembly stations in a low volume, high-mix workflow
  • Work closely with engineering team to provide crucial input on design for machining and assembly
  • Help develop machining processes for gearbox components
  • Use inline component inspection and end of line testing stations for gearbox components and assemblies
  • Tracking and documentation of geartrain assembly and machining processes and results when necessary
  • Perform all assignments in accordance with EH&S and security policies
What You'll Bring
  • 5+ years of experience building industrial equipment machinery, or similar experience such as automotive or heavy machinery mechanic
  • Ability to follow mechanical drawings of assemblies and components that include bearings, gearboxes, actuators etc.
  • 3+ years of CNC gear machining experience. (i.e. Gear hobbing, gear grinding, gear shaping etc.)
  • 3D CAD experience/knowledge, preferably Catia, SolidWorks
  • Familiarity with Computer Aided Manufacturing Softwares
  • Ability to identify and procure effective tooling for assembly and machining line
  • Knowledge and understanding of gear inspection tools and methods
  • Knowledge and understanding of engineering drawings, documents and GD&T
  • Thrives in a fast paced, constantly evolving environment while staying attentive to detail
