We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Senior Plumbing/Piping Estimator to join our Estimating team in Port Coquitlam, BC. This role is crucial for delivering quick and accurate estimates, often within a 48-72 hour turnaround, for a variety of projects including plumbing, HVAC, and sheet metal. You will be responsible for both design-build and plan-spec projects, with a focus on retrofit and end-of-life cycle upgrades, particularly in commercial and institutional settings.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform quantity takeoffs and enter data into estimating software (Trimble/Autobid).
  • Prepare, review, and submit bid documents to ensure all requirements are met.
  • Assemble all elements of an estimate, including labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing.
  • Provide detailed labor breakdowns to assist with budget creation and project management.
  • Prepare budgets for prospective projects and manage multiple estimates simultaneously.
  • Establish strong relationships with suppliers and sub-trades to ensure competitive pricing.
  • Review projects to develop winning strategies and interpret client and design information to ensure a complete system.
  • Critically review requests for proposals, preliminary designs, estimates, and proposals.
  • Support operations team with some project management work.
  • Attend site visits, client meetings, and participate in pre-bid and post-bid meetings.
  • Collaborate with account managers, estimators, and service managers to support project success.
  • Ensure quick turnaround on estimates for plumbing, HVAC, and sheet metal projects, including design-build and plan-spec projects, retrofit projects, industrial projects, and institutional projects

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of relevant mechanical estimating experience, with strong exposure to organizing and preparing cost estimates and proposals for mechanical, plumbing, or sheet metal construction projects.
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in mechanical or construction technology, or relevant field experience in mechanical trades.
  • Proven project and resource management skills, with demonstrated leadership abilities.
  • Ability to interpret site and building plans and specifications.
  • Experience with design-build and plan-spec projects, dehumidifier replacement, retrofit projects, and hospital operations/maintenance.
  • Ability to estimate for plumbing, HVAC, and sheet metal projects with quick turnaround.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical specifications, construction methods, and procedures.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, time management, and multitasking skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Access, Project) and familiarity with computerized estimating systems (Autobid Mechanical, Autobid Sheetmetal).
