You will report to the Branch Manager and be a key player in rolling out a new service to Prince Rupert while being supported by our Structural Engineering group in Courtenay, Terrace and throughout BC and having the autonomy to manage your own projects in the Prince Rupert area. What You’ll Be Doing:
Provide design, engineering, and site inspections for structural projects, notably both timber single family and mid-rise building and commercial/industrial/institutional design engineering using steel, concrete, and wood
Work closely with our dedicated Ports & Marine Group on marine structural engineering projects
Lead project management of multi-disciplinary projects
Assist with proposal preparation and business development
Supervise and mentor support staff

What You’ll Bring:
5-10+ years of related design experience in some or all of the structures mentioned above
Registration in good standing as a P.Eng. in British Columbia
Proven delivery of structural projects for public and private clients
Knowledge & experience with National and Provincial Building Codes including those for steel (CAN/CSA S16), concrete (CAN/CSA A23.3), masonry (CAN/CSA S304.1) wood (CAN/CSA 086)
Proficiency with structural engineering software, such as SAP2000, RISA, and Woodworks
Strong communication skills both written and verbal as well as a positive, team-oriented attitude
Strong people skills with the ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse range of individuals
Project management and proposal writing experience
Strong organizational skills and flexibility to manage changing priorities on short notice
Well-honed business development and client relationship skills are strongly desired
Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite, particularly Word and Excel; capable of quickly learning new software programs
Aluminum design (CAN/CSA S157) and Bridge design (CAN/CSA S6) would be an asset
