Pacific Coastal Airlines is looking for a highly skilled, motivated and enthusiastic individual for role of a permanent full time Ground Service Equipment Mechanic. This position is based out of the maintenance hangar located at the South Terminal Airport in Richmond, BC

The Ground Services Equipment Mechanic works collaboratively with our Airport teams and Station vendors under the direction of the Manager, Maintenance. They perform a variety of tasks throughout our network to ensure that ground service equipment is kept in optimal condition. They must ensure that safety and quality of workmanship is a priority at all times.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Source outside vendors to maintain equipment at all Pacific Coastal Airlines out stations, coordinate repair and preventative maintenance of equipment while maintaining a good working relationship with the vendor
  • Advise manager on all work performed, general vehicle condition, equipment malfunctions and future repair requirements
  • Complete and maintain technical reports for work performed on Pacific Coastal Airlines fleet of ground service equipment
  • Inspect, diagnose, repair and service mechanical, electrical and electronic systems and components of all Pacific Coastal Airlines fleet of ground service equipment
  • Maintain tools and support equipment in safe and operational working conditions
  • Maintain a complete inventory of all parts and tooling that are that are used for the ground service equipment by utilizing computer tracking system
  • Able to work within the procurement policy to purchased items for Pacific Coastal Airlines fleet of ground service equipment
  • Keep work areas clean and free of hazards
  • Maintain the highest levels of standards, safety and security at all times
  • Travel within Pacific Coastal Airlines network to support out station ground service equipment when required
  • Work with Airports and Maintenance team to develop and implement a maintenance program for all PCA ground equipment. Ensuring seasonal requirements are taken into account
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • 1 or more years proven mechanical experience in the automotive or heavy equipment maintenance industry; aviation GSE experience preferred
  • Preference given to candidates who have completed an Auto Mechanic or Heavy Equipment Mechanic Trade in recognized post-secondary institution, or completed a combination of work experience and industry courses
  • A journeyman certificate is preferred
  • A red seal certificate is preferred
  • Valid class 5 or higher driver's license
  • Capable of lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to work outdoors during inclement weather conditions
  • Flexible to work weekends, evenings, holidays and/or irregular shifts
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain designated security clearance (RAIC pass)
  • Must be able to obtain airport vehicle operators permit (AVOP)

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Excellent organizational, time management skills
  • Ability to balance multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills (written and oral)
  • Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical, hydraulic and electrical problems
  • Proficient knowledge of gasoline and diesel engines
  • Sound knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems and ability to read schematics
  • Metal fabrication and welding would be considered an asset
