Position: Engineering Drafter, Intermediate

Department: Engineering - Engineering Services

Reports to: Structural Drafting Supervisor

Location: Richmond, BC, Canada

PURPOSE:

WhiteWater West is seeking an Engineering Drafter, Intermediate to join our Engineering team at our Richmond head office on a casual contract. In this position, you will undertake a variety of tasks to assist the Engineering Design Services team in producing project deliverables for various Engineering disciplines. Examples of work assignments include assisting Structural and Mechanical Engineers with drafting design-intent drawings, developing CAD models, creating design documentation, and supporting Continuous Improvement efforts. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform drafting checks on engineering drawings and CAD models for waterslide supports, towers, and various elements
  • Prepare engineering drawings and create CAD models for same
  • Coordinate drawing set releases for project deliverables
  • Coordinate work with other related discipline engineers, drafters, and departments
  • Contribute to the development of departmental teamwork and efforts to improve efficiency
  • Become proficient in the use of customized software in preparing engineering drawings for waterslide supports
  • Participate in continuous design and drafting improvement processes
  • Use Non-Compliance Reporting (NCR) / Opportunity for Improvement (OFI) procedures.
  • Execute responsibilities according to lawful and ethical standards
  • Engage in continuous improvement of self and team

  • Maintain and follow best practices in Engineering, Customer Service, Quality, Lean Management and Safety
  • Define and align personal development goals with departmental goals

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Diploma in Civil / Structural Engineering Technology or extensive equivalent experience
  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering with experience in construction projects
  • Proficiency with CAD software, including AutoCAD and SolidWorks
  • Knowledge of Revit and/or other BIM related software would be a definite asset
  • Knowledge of drawings standards (ASME Y14.100) would be a definite asset
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Curious with the desire to understand and a passion to learn
  • Ability to develop effective internal and external working relationships
  • Exceptional ability to listen, communicate (written and oral) and collaborate
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, self-starter and energetic
  • Detail-oriented with an eye for improvement opportunities
  • Ability to motivate and contribute as a team member in a positive and results-oriented team environment
  • More than willing to lead by example, hands-on, roll up your sleeves and do what it takes to get the job done
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
