WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
ACML is actively seeking a Senior Operations Manager located in Vancouver, BC. This position is accountable to support the goals of ACML's Operations Division, to support the management of a portfolio of properties while providing strategic direction to people management and development. The main responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Business Focus:

  • Key asset in assisting Director in developing the 5-year plan for ACML's Operations Division;
  • Act as resource to Directors to develop, validate and refine new initiatives;
  • Accountable to operationalize new, innovative initiatives (i.e. support B&T roll-out of procurement tool);
  • Oversees the implementation of operational best practices such as quality control and risk reduction programs (i.e., policies, procedures, etc.).
  • Supports the overall business of ACML by:
    • Proactively assessing project P&L statements, identifying risk and making recommendations;
    • Proactively develop existing business retention plans;
    • Managing annual contract increases;
    • Assessing client staffing models to drive improved financial outcomes;
    • Assisting Division in understanding project priorities and best "value" for time spent;
    • Working with other Operations Managers to develop multi-year "Action Plans" to drive client success;
    • Leading and managing P3 projects, ensuring alignment with contractual obligations and performance standards.
  • Accountable to analyze, detect risks to ACML's business (within purview), report to Director, and determine alternative operational measures to mitigate all risks/impacts;
  • Leads, directs the development and delivery of business strategies across a portfolio encompassing multiple clients and multiple sites;
  • Reviews, interprets and makes recommendations related to clients' capital and operational budgets and expenditures;
  • Management and reporting oversight of and adherence to service agreements, SLAs and KPIs;
  • Functions as the Operations' leadership representative on various committees, as required.
People Leadership Focus:
  • Develop strategies and implement processes (accountability and measurement through quality assurance program) to improve Division's human resources-related effectiveness including: recruitment; retention; training; career development; and succession planning);
  • Develops and fosters the growth of direct reports through mentorship, skills development, training and coaching.
  • Overall accountability for team deliverables; provides support as required; holds management team accountable; ensures the team is working cohesively;
  • Ensures that team maintains a deep knowledge and understanding of facilities management in order to lead/direct staff and external service providers;
Client Focus:
  • Develops/maintains client relations; ascertains long-term client needs/goals;
  • Meets with clients to obtain facility performance updates, provide advice on facility enhancement and recommends solutions to complex issues;
  • Promotes ACML services and new business initiatives;
  • Evaluates and approves site goals/objectives developed by teams; provides guidance in development/management analysis of operational plans and effective communications;
  • Oversees implementation of transparent tendering process; supports negotiation process, as required;
  • Oversees implementation of client programs; executes effective actions to meet/exceed expectations, commitments and service delivery; obtains client feedback and utilizes for process improvement;
  • Review/approve site monthly reports and business plans in the context of performance objectives and client deliverables;
WHAT WILL YOU BRING?
  • Minimum 15 years related/progressive facilities maintenance and operations management experience;
  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in a relevant field of study (e.g., Engineering, Facilities Management, etc.); or a professional designation as a Certified Engineering Technician/ Technologist (CET); or a professional engineer licensed in Canada (P. Eng.); or combination of education, training and experience;
  • Strong understanding of building systems, such as but not limited to: mechanical, electrical, life safety, architectural, envelope, IT and effective/proactive facilities maintenance and operational principles.
  • Ability to navigate complex contractual agreements and ensure adherence to performance metrics.
  • Project management experience; demonstrated ability to effectively manage from design to hand over;
  • Knowledge/understanding of Occupational Health & Safety Act; building/fire/other codes and applicable standards/regulations pertaining to facilities maintenance and operations;
  • Proven experience in managing P3 projects within the facilities management sector is an asset.
  • Strong communication/presentation skills (verbal and written); ability to excel in a team environment;
  • Critical, logical and strategic thinking/analysis;
  • Proven ability to plan, organize, prioritize and implement;
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
