WHAT YOU WILL DO:

We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Wildfire GIS Specialist to join our dynamic team. The GIS Specialist will be responsible for managing, analyzing, and visualizing spatial data to support a variety of projects. The ideal candidate will have a passion for GIS technology, strong analytical skills, and experience in applying GIS solutions to real-world challenges.

As a GIS Specialist you will be responsible for the following:

  • Collect, manage, and analyze spatial data using GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Create high-quality maps, visualizations, and spatial data products to support project needs.
  • Develop and maintain GIS databases, including metadata and data standards.
  • Perform spatial analysis, validation, and data conversion tasks.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and clients to identify GIS needs and deliver solutions.
  • Integrate GIS data with other technologies and databases, such as remote sensing.
  • Conduct field data collection and support geospatial technology integration in field operations.
  • Provide technical support, training, and guidance to team members on GIS tools and best practices.
  • Stay updated on new GIS technologies, trends, and best practices to improve workflows.


WHAT YOU'LL NEED:

  • Bachelor's degree in Geography, GIS, Environmental Science, Urban Planning, Computer Science, or a related field;
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in GIS analysis, mapping, or a related field.
  • Proficiency in GIS software (e.g., ArcGIS, QGIS) and related tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL).
  • Strong understanding of spatial data formats, geoprocessing, and data management.
  • Experience with web-based GIS platforms (e.g., ArcGIS Online, Google Earth Engine) and geospatial data visualization.
  • Familiarity with wildfire planning or response, remote sensing, and raster analysis is an asset.
