Detailed Overview

Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose and Commitments of Fraser Health including service delivery that is centered around patients/clients/residents and families:


Acts as an internal consulting resource for organization, and leadership development processes, strategies, decision-making and projects that are directed at fostering a culture of psychological health and safety (PHS) in the workplace. Responsible for supporting the development and implementation of strategic and operational initiatives designed to strengthen health, resilience and well-being at individual, team, leader and organizational levels. Provides consulting services to support the goals and objectives of senior leadership and managers with interventions such as change initiatives, strategy and planning facilitation, process re-design, team building, education and training, consulting and coaching on PHS, Culture and Respectful Workplace development issues. Provides support to the organization and specific functional areas in recognizing current patterns across the system and partnering to develop and implement strategies to improve organizational effectiveness.
Responsibilities

  1. Design, develop, implement and evaluate new and existing PHS management systems to assess and address key psychosocial factors impacting workforce mental health.
  2. Provides leadership in the development and implementation of strategic and operational initiatives designed to support staff and medical staff in nurturing their self-care, well-being and total health.
  3. Designs, develops and recommends new and innovative models for PHS service delivery to meet the needs of staff and medical staff.
  4. Analyzes existing systems and processes and makes recommendations to optimize assessing and addressing key psychosocial factors impacting workforce PHS.
  5. Partners with senior leaders and teams in designing and implementing change processes that engage stakeholders appropriately from initiation to integration of the change.
  6. Provides client services and programs in a way that increases leaders' capacity for coaching, process design, facilitation, and team development within their own teams by training and supporting leaders in how to host psychologically informed conversations.
  7. Delivers best in practice resilience training for staff, medical staff, teams, and leaders by leading the development, implementation and maintenance of competency based learning programs and continuing education of staff, integrating these with practice standards.
  8. Facilitates team development, and changes in group norms, values, and culture; identifies and uses instruments and surveys to analyze individual and group behavior; partners with clients in identifying possibilities for improvement; provides coaching supports to leaders towards increasing success in change integrations.
  9. Collaborates as directed with key provincial and regional committees such as Provincial PHS Steering Committee and the Regional PHS Committee.
  10. Meets with stakeholders to facilitate consensus, consultation and the sharing of information; liaises with consultants, vendors, other health care entities and external agencies.
  11. Keeps current on the interpretation and application of National Standard for PHS in the Workplace, relevant articles in the collective agreements, human rights legislation, and applicable other external regulations, provincial standards, practices and protocols.
  12. Represents the PHS department on selected internal and external technical committees as required, and provides status reports to the Leader, PHS.
  13. Coordinates and leads project teams for the development of new training, processes and tools to enhance PHS services delivery. Ensures project deliverables are completed on time and on budget, as identified in the project plan.
  14. Provides leadership to external vendors or project team members as required.
  15. Remains current in the practice of organization development and leadership development by ongoing professional development; researches and implements cutting edge best practice in alignment with probable future needs in the organization.
  16. Evaluates Psychological Health and Safety services ensuring interventions meet client satisfaction.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

Master's Degree in Psychology, Organization Development, Leadership, Adult Education or other equivalent Behavioral Science.

Five years' recent related experience in psychological health and safety, organization development and/or leadership development in an intermediate to large size organization. Preference will be given to candidates with work experience in healthcare settings.

  • Demonstrated expertise in conflict management.
  • Demonstrated expertise in project management, particularly of change initiatives.
  • Working knowledge of applicable regulations, legislation, policies and procedures.
  • Knowledge and understanding of computer technology, especially the fundamentals of word processing, spreadsheets, graphics, data base and CD ROM.
