The Coordinator, Health, Safety, Security and Environment is responsible for the administration and support of the health, safety, security and environmental programs for DP World Fraser Surrey and Nanaimo.

In this role, you will:

  • Assist in the implementation and administration of HSSE systems, programs, policies, training, campaigns and programs to prevent injury and ensure compliance with regulations and DPW standards.
  • Assist with the administration and organization of document management such as records, training, meetings, inspections, audits, action plans as part of management system and processes.
  • Coordinate training for management, employees, and contractors as it relates to HSSE.
  • Provide security administration support to the supporting Business Unit such as access control, managing port passes and expirations, sponsorship, MTSC clearance as required by Transport Canada.
  • Assist with reporting on key safety metrics through reporting tools and dashboards and maintaining consistent metrics and communication.
  • Assist with administration of purchasing and receiving and management of HSSE work orders.
  • Assist with the development of HSSE resources or tools to help promote internal or external awareness to workforce.
  • Oversee and manage Business Units document management program and ensure adequate retention, filing, and categorization is maintained.
  • Collaborate with the DPW World Canada team (all functions) to standardize HSSE processes across the BUs when possible.
  • Create a network of internal and external alliances to implement policies, programs, procedures, standards, training and processes.
  • Ensure incident prevention/abatement through detailed injury and incident reporting, data analysis and investigation compliance.

What you bring to this role:

  • Post-secondary training in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Sciences/ Hygiene or similar field.
  • Minimum 3 years in a similar role with experience coordinating Safety and/or Environment Programs; prior experience working in an industrial and/or unionized environment is an asset
  • Willingness to take initiative to solve problems and a desire to identify process improvements.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain positive working relationships and achieve buy in and ownership to quality standards/ initiatives with all departments and levels.
  • Sound judgement and analytical thinking that enables decision making, ability to manage projects and prioritize and manage timelines.
  • Self-starter with a positive, hands on approach and the ability to work as a team member.
  • Exceptional computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office) and ability to quickly learn new software.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Previous Canadian work experience or experience working directly with Canadian industries.
