The Project Controller, Civil Projects will oversee and manage project schedules, financial tracking, reporting, and risk management activities throughout the lifecycle of terminal infrastructure projects. The role ensures proper coordination between Contractors, DP World departments, and Operations, maintaining seamless project execution.

In this role you will:

  • Provide coordination and administration support through the full life cycle of terminal infrastructure projects.

Project Initiation and Setup:

  • Coordinate with internal departments to build schedules, timelines, and budgets for project-related activities.
  • Ensure all required initial documentation is submitted by the contractor in accordance with the contract.
  • Provide the contractor with an overview of procedures, templates, and guidelines for reporting.
  • Develop and maintain tracking systems for critical project documents.

Project Execution and Monitoring:

  • Monitor project schedules, track key milestones, and ensure alignment with project timelines.
  • Organize and lead regular project meetings to track progress, address issues, and adjust plans as needed.
  • Maintain and update the project's financial records, including identifying potential cost overruns or savings.
  • Prepare and present regular reports on project progress (e.g., monthly financial reports, weekly updates, reporting for Authorities).
  • Conduct risk assessments and update risk management registers regularly and mitigation strategies.
  • Hold and participate in meetings with internal teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure project alignment.
  • Review contractor's documents to ensure compliance with internal requirements and regulatory standards.
  • Assist in reviewing design plans and supporting project engineer and project manager as needed.
  • Maintaining positive relationships and clear communication with stakeholders and contractors.

Site Visits and Coordination:

  • Conduct periodic site visits to assess progress and ensure compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Coordinate project activities between contractors and internal teams to ensure smooth operations and mitigate disruptions.

Project Closure:

  • Ensure all project deliverables are completed and obtain final approvals and sign-offs.
  • Complete final reports and lessons learned register.
  • Ensure tracking documentation is closed and remaining deficiencies addressed.
  • Assist in post-project evaluation and feedback collection to identify areas for improvement in future projects.

What you bring to this role:

  • A university degree related to civil engineering, environmental science, construction management or related discipline along with a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in major infrastructure projects
  • Demonstrated major project experience related to project controls, through out the project life circle.
  • Outstanding computer skills including Miscrsoft Office and project management tools (Microsoft Project, Primavera P6) and Excel for reporting and tracking.
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, capable of managing multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to identifying and solving problems.
  • This position is ideal for a team player with excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively and positively with all contacts, internally and externally
  • Must be able to work independently and take initiative to maintain work output with minimal supervision.
  • Be flexible on ability to work out of different locations such as Surrey and Burnaby based on needs of project.
  • Weekly visits to the construction site located in Nanaimo, Vancouver Island BC
  • Must be a highly organized and detailed-oriented individual who can manage competing priorities
  • Fluent in English.
  • Previous Canadian work experience or experience working directly with Canadian industries.
