Main Purpose & Function
Reporting to the Associate Director, this senior Civil Engineer (CEII) position works on solid waste policy, planning and operating/capital programs and projects with a focus on landfill gas (LFG) management. The CEII takes a leadership role within the Branch, assists the Associate Director in developing practical, cost effective strategic and long term plans, develops and implements progams, is accountable to deliver complex, multi-stakeholder projects and is a technical expert in the LFG field. The CE II may also be required to provide backup coverage for the Associate Director, in their absence.
The position reports to the Associate Director, Transfer and Landfill Operations. Other key stakeholders include senior Engineering Services Staff, other City branches and departments, including Fleet Management Services, Supply Chain Management, Finance and Legal Services, etc., as well as staff with the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Strategy, Metro Vancouver and the City of Delta.

Where operationally appropriate and subject to change, the City of Vancouver has a Flexible Work Program. This program allows staff to work remotely 1 - 4 days a week from locations that are a daily commutable distance from their work at a City worksite. At this time this position is eligible to be part of the Flexible Work Program.
