Our Vancouver Office is growing and is seeking and Electrical Engineer to support out continued growth and achievement of our strategic objectives as consultants in the natural resource and renewable energy industries.

  • Work collaboratively with clients, project managers, engineers, designers and drafters in the preparation of deliverables to BBA and client standards
  • Establish client needs, prepare or review reports, estimates, specifications, quotations and proposals
  • Prepare and review design deliverables
  • Perform calculations and studies
  • Lead, supervise, train, and mentor junior engineers during the project execution.
  • Work with designers and drafters in the preparation of drawings to BBA and client standards
  • Perform site inspections, testing and commissioning at client sites
  • Create project scope of services, budgets and schedules
  • Plan and monitor work assignments and costs
  • Communicate with the client on active and future projects

Overview of certifications and job requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized university
  • P.Eng. or eligible to register with EGBC as a P.Eng
  • Minimum 10 years of relevant experience with power distribution systems in the mining, industrial, or municipality sectors
  • Experience preparing and reviewing technical documents such as reports, specifications, design drawings, studies, plans, and instructions
  • Practical knowledge of MV & LV distribution in industrial plants, including single line diagrams, site layouts, panel layouts, schematics, grounding, and lighting
  • Practical knowledge of motor control and drive
  • Practical knowledge of the Canadian Electrical Code (CEC)
  • Experience preparing HV/MV/LV electrical equipment specifications
  • Experience preparing and reviewing project estimates
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong and demonstrated critical thinking skills
  • A valid driver’s license
  • Able to travel to customer sites and other BBA offices within Canada, the USA, and international destinations for project short-term assignments, such as site meetings, field reviews, site assessments, tests, etc
  • Asset: Experience in HV/MV/LV electrical equipment troubleshooting, commissioning, and system installation
  • Asset: Familiarity with HV & MV substations, including site layouts, reactive equipment, switching equipment, and grounding
  • Asset: Familiarity with electrical protection and control system
  • Asset: Familiarity with IEEE Color Books, NEC, or IEC standards
  • Asset: Experience with drafting software (2D and 3D)
