Classification: Technician I (Electrician) (Part Time, Hourly)

CLAC, Local 501 BARGAINING UNIT POSITION

Department: Arena Operations

Reports to: Manager, Engineering Services

POSITION SUMMARY:

Following specifications, the electrician will build, assemble, install, and repair electrical within the Arena. The electrician will also be responsible for providing expert project advice.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(Other duties may be assigned as required)

  • Implement a comprehensive preventative maintenance program relating to electrical components, controls, wiring, circuitry, fire alarm systems, security, and lighting systems
  • Responsible for overall building services, including electrical contract maintenance services
  • Perform repairs to scoreboards, clocks and, related control equipment as required
  • Perform repairs and maintenance to facility electrical systems and components
  • Maintain and repair light fixtures, ballasts, electrical outlets and connections, fuses, breakers and related equipment
  • Coordinate electrical requirements with contracted production company
  • Connect and disconnect power for all shows, special event requirements, and various day to day operations
  • Supervise the performance of in-house electrical systems
  • Provide support with Audio Visual Equipment

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 7 to 10 years' experience in the electrical field
  • Journeyman Electrical TQ (B.C. & Inter-provincial)
  • Ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends. Please note this is a part-time, hourly position
  • Ability to understand computer application, software, and control systems
  • Strong background in automated building controls or equivalent combination of skills and experience
  • Solid team player with a strong customer focus
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively with all staff, guests, promoters, clients, corporate partners, and supplier contractors
  • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision
