We are seeking top-tier talent to join our Infrastructure division and build innovative projects in the transit and transportation sectors, such as roads, highways/freeways, bridges, interchanges, LRTs, BRTs, and airports. About the Role

The Estimator reports directly to the Chief Estimator in our Infrastructure group and will be responsible for performing all facets of an estimate including quantities, costing and sub-trade analysis for presentation and final review of major items.

As an Estimator at Graham you will:

  • Determine the project scope of work.
  • Set-up and complete estimate in company standard estimating program.
  • Prepare preliminary construction schedules based on self-perform productivities and subcontractor input to determine project duration and resulting overhead costs.
  • Complete estimate quantification and draft costing of labour, including productivities, equipment including productivities, material, and subtrade plugs.
  • Identify and develop constructability requirements for project construction.
  • Participate in the identification of project risk and cost mitigation, as well as the potential for project opportunities and cost savings.
  • Participate in the analysis of potential strategies, advantages, or innovations for the project that could provide Graham with a more competitive bid.
  • Analyze subcontractor bids for irregularities and ensure the full scope of work is included.
  • Participate in the bid close or, when solely responsible, lead bid close with oversight by a more senior estimator.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • Construction Management or Civil, Structural, Mechanical Engineering or related technical degree
  • 5+ years of construction related experience including at least 2 years of on-site field experience in construction management, project management, or cost estimating.
  • 2 or more years of estimating experience, or an equivalent level of understanding based on project management experience
  • Proficiency in the use of MS Excel, scheduling software (Primavera preferred),
  • quantification software (such as OnScreen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Agtek), and BIM modelling is an asset.
  • Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills with above average organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to comprehend tender documents, specifications, and drawings, with a basic understanding of contractual requirements.
  • General understanding of all construction scopes of work.

Compensation:

  • $96,400-$132,500 per annum
  • Salary with commensurate with education and experience
