What to Expect

As a Commercial Field Service Apprentice Electrician with the Tesla Energy Commercial Operations Team, you will have the opportunity to work under the direction and supervision of a Licensed Electrician on the maintenance of commercial PV, energy storage, and supercharging stations. Skills in all areas of electrical are not necessarily required, but the job can and will involve a variety of electrical disciplines and a strong candidate will be able to perform a variety of electrical tasks from distribution/production power, lighting, and low voltage.

Working as a team with the entire energy department, the apprentice electrician assists with the operations and maintenance of power distribution, transformers, lighting, and electrical equipment 480 VAC up to 1000VDC, Inverters, Batteries, DC strings under the guidance of a Licensed Electrician.

What You'll Do
  • Maintaining and troubleshooting various types of electrical components
  • Uses complex electrical schematics and blueprints
  • Consulting manuals, reading and interpreting diagrams, blueprints, and schematics
  • Performs a wide variety of job scopes. (servicing electric vehicle charging stations, battery energy storage systems and any other required tasks assigned to him/her)
  • Displays positive attitudes and practices good work ethics that reflects the mission, philosophy, and goals of the company
  • Complete tasks in a timely manner and provide feedback
What You'll Bring
  • Must be a Registered 309A construction and maintenance electrician apprentice with the Skill Trades Ontario (ONTARIO OPENINGS) or Industry Training Authority (VANCOUVER OPENINGS)
  • Knowledge of basic electrical theory and Ohms law. Must have 1-2 years of electrical experience including the installation of electrical equipment
  • Uses a variety of tools and equipment, such as power construction equipment, measuring devices, power tools, and testing equipment. Ability to travel to numerous sites daily and travel up to 2 weeks at a time
  • Experience working with low voltage control circuits & AC power circuits. Ability to interpret electrical prints and schematics
  • The employee may require the ability lift 50 lbs. from the ground and pull 50 lbs. of force
  • Perform ladder climbing, wire pulling, and conduit pulling. Fully squat, stoop or kneel while wearing a 25 lbs. tool belt
  • Maintain a standing position for long periods while performing repetitive actions such as grasping or manipulating wires. Work off ladders, man lifts or reach booms
