Mt Seymour Resorts is a winter recreation area located at 1700 Mount Seymour Road, North Vancouver, BC V7G 1L3. We are a mid-sized family-owned company, with a passion for what we do; we attract people who enjoy the recreation industry and all it has to offer. We provide a variety of recreational activities including skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, lesson programs, camps and summer activities.

We are currently recruiting for a Full-time, year-round Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our maintenance team. This is a hands-on position responsible for performing all preventative, routine and emergency repairs and maintenance on all Mt Seymour's vehicles and machinery including loaders, graders, snow cats, snowplows, snow mobiles, light and heavy-duty trucks and shuttle buses.

This is an interesting position working as part of a small team within a scenic resort environment.

Heavy Duty Mechanic

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, the Heavy Duty Mechanic is a hands-on position responsible for performing all preventative, routine and emergency maintenance and repairs on all Mt Seymour's fleet of vehicles and equipment, including loaders, snow groomers, snowplows, and buses.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To uphold Mt Seymour's mandate to "excite and engage everyone in mountain recreation by providing fun, safe and enriching experiences."
• To uphold and promote Mt Seymour's Core Values: Safety, Fun, Integrity, Accessibility and Environmental Stewardship.
• Identify and prioritize vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair requirements.
• Carry out all vehicle and equipment maintenance procedures and repairs as required.
• Read manufacturers manuals and guidelines to determine maintenance and repair requirements.
• Carry out maintenance and repairs on all Snow Cats.
• Ensure all manufacturers' guidelines and government regulations regarding vehicle maintenance and repair are followed.
• Clean, lubricate and perform routine servicing and maintenance on vehicles and equipment as required.
• Diagnose faults or malfunctions using computerized and other testing equipment to determine extent of repair required.
• Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts, components or systems, using hand and power tools.
• Inspect all vehicles and equipment to detect and investigate problems and malfunctions.
• Repair and replace defective parts.
• Conduct annual summer maintenance, overhauls, servicing and repairs on all vehicles and equipment.
• Oversee outside maintenance contractors for both regular and emergency repairs.
• Ordering, shipping and receiving materials/parts as required.
• Maintaining records and vehicle maintenances logs as needed.
• Ensure a high standard in all finished work while balancing business costs and time efficiencies.
• Adherence to the maintenance budget and planning.
• Manage inventories as they relate to vehicle maintenance.
• Monitor and promote health and safety regulations, policies, and procedures in the workplace.
• Assist the Mountain Operations department and other departments on-hill as required.
• Keep a clean, organized, and safe work environment
• Other related duties as required for the success of the mountain operations.


QUALIFICATIONS
• Candidates must be Red Seal certified or hold a valid journeyman Heavy Duty Mechanic certification (or equivalent combination of skills, experience and educational credentials)
• Completion of a three- to five-year apprenticeship program or a combination of over four years of work experience and industry courses in heavy equipment repair.
• Strong interpersonal skills to establish positive working relationships with managers, supervisors and co-workers.
• Clear verbal and written English communication skills.
• Must be able to physically:
o Work in all weather conditions while performing labour intensive duties
o Sustain a professional working manner during emergency response,
o Ability to Lift and carry heavy parts and equipment up to 25kgs
o kneel, bend, stoop, squat, and stretch to fulfill duties.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
• Full-time year-round position
• $43.50 - $45.00 per hour based on experience and qualifications.
• Vacation pay accrual at the rate of 6% per bi-weekly pay period to provide 15 days' vacation per anniversary year.
• 50% of employee benefit costs including medical, dental, extended health, life insurance, and long-term disability after 3 months of continuous full-time employment.
• Family Seasons Passes for Mt Seymour
• RRSP plan membership will commence after 1 year of continuous full-time employment and will be matched by the company commencing at 2% and increasing to 4% contingent on length of service.
• Five 8-hour shifts/week including some evenings and weekends during the winter operating period November-April.
• Four 10-hour shifts/week primarily Monday to Friday during the off-season (May-September).
