We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Health and Safety Specialist to manage the safety day to day operations of the assigned project sites and regions. The HSE Specialist is required to liaise with the field operations and work as a team member with fellow HSE Specialists. Reporting to the H&S Regional to provide accurate and timely support and resources for the field operations of the safety performance of the company.

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Facilitating safety-related education training
  • On-site engagement to influence commitment from all MN workers to comply with all HSE requirements
  • Support and lead HSE for specific operational projects by providing industry experience and specialized knowledge
  • Partnering with operations on HSE messaging and communications to MN employees
  • Analyzing data from reports to review existing preventative programs and make recommendations for new preventative initiatives
  • Engaging and collaborating with field leaders when doing site inspections
  • Attending all HSE applicable meetings
  • Supporting operations and Senior Leadership in managing risk by:
    • analyse and interpret data to identify opportunities of improvement
    • enhancing our safe work procedures by utilizing lessons learned
    • analyze HSE training needs and provide recommendations of training to ensure competency and awareness of workers
    • consulting for operations on new project site specific safety plans
    • advising on safety topics
    • incident and claim management

QUALIFICATION and REQUIREMENTS

  • Post-secondary education in a related field is an asset
  • Previous 3+ years experience working in the construction industry would be a strong asset
  • Credentials to support skillset
  • Demonstrated competency with Microsoft office including: Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Effective communicator with the ability to develop and sustain productive working relationships with employees, subcontractors and other stakeholders at all levels
  • Well organized with an ability to effectively set and manage competing priorities
  • Sense of prioritization and drive to succeed
  • Must be comfortable working within a deadline driven fast paced environment
  • Resourceful, energetic and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Strong team player with the ability to operate independently with confidence
  • Driver's license and the ability to travel to job sites with own vehicle
  • Strong interest in growing career within the construction industry
