The Opportunity McElhanney has an opportunity for a Hydrographic Surveyor to join our team in Vancouver, BC. Reporting to the Vancouver Branch Manager, you will work with a team of Geomatics professionals to complete bathymetric survey projects locally and throughout Western Canada.

What You’ll Be Doing
Multibeam and Singlebeam Hydrographic Surveys
Sidescan, Sub-Bottom, USV or ROV Surveys
Vessel mounted Terrestrial LiDAR Surveys
Levels and Topographic Surveys utilizing GNSS and Conventional Methods
Operation and maintenance of various survey vessels including mobilization to project sites.
Operate, maintain and troubleshoot navigation, positioning and sounding equipment
Process, analyze and generate bathymetric reports utilizing various software packages
Ensure implementation of quality assurance, safety, and policy compliance.
What You’ll Bring
Certificate, Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Geomatics Engineering with preference to those attending a certified Category A or B institution or 3-5 years direct experience performing Hydrographic surveying.
Experience collecting and processing SBS and MBS data in HYPACK or other bathymetric survey software
Experience with survey and mapping software including Leica Infinity, Trimble Business Center, Civil 3D, Reshaper, Global Mapper or equivalent
Experienced with other bathymetric sensors including sub-bottom, side scan, imaging sonar is an asset
Valid SVOP, ROC-M, SDV-BC or ability to obtain
Physically fit, able to lift heavy equipment and willing to work in varied environmental conditions
Valid driver’s license required
