Main Purpose and Function
The Housing Projects Planner II position in the Housing Policy and Regulation Division is primarily responsible for advancing the delivery of affordable and social housing projects through the City's planning and development approvals processes. This position will work to secure affordable and social housing through major planning projects and development applications throughout the city. The position is also responsible for the implementation of the City's Tenant Relocation and Protection Policy. The position will contribute to delivering on the City's new Housing Vancouver Strategy objectives and targets.
The work involves supervising junior staff and supporting the overall work of the team. This includes reviewing complex rezoning and development permit applications and preparing policy, zoning and guidelines for individual projects and area planning initiatives. The position will require a range of professional and technical competencies.

Where operationally appropriate and subject to change, the City of Vancouver has a Flexible Work Program. This program allows staff to work remotely 1 - 4 days a week from locations that are a daily commutable distance from their work at a City worksite. At this time this position is eligible to be part of the Flexible Work Program.
