Main Purpose & Function
The Street Use Coordinator is responsible for program coordination, administration and compliance of relevant by-laws related to permitted, licensed, and programmed activities on City street right-of-way. The position is a key contact for members of the public, and those involved in vending and programming activities. The position inspects, administers, and enforces terms of permits and by-laws to ensure that regulated activities conform to department standards and that use of City street space does not cause danger or inconvenience to the public. Engagement and communication with businesses, internal and external groups, and business associations.
The position reports to the Technical Supervisor-Engineering and works closely with staff within Engineering Services as well as other groups within the organization such as Planning, Urban Design and Sustainability. The position also consults and works with key business stakeholders (e.g., service vendors, contractors and consultants) and representatives to ensure that their requirements are well understood and addressed.
This position may be required to work evening and weekend shifts as operationally required.

Where operationally appropriate and subject to change, the City of Vancouver has a Flexible Work Program. This program allows staff to work remotely 1 - 4 days a week from locations that are a daily commutable distance from their work at a City worksite. At this time this position is eligible to be part of the Flexible Work Program.
