You as a Sr. HSE Manager:

  • Develop, implement & maintain the project HSE strategy, policies, and procedures.
  • Promotes and supports a strong safety culture across the project.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all HSE related matters within the organization and liaise with regulatory bodies as necessary.
  • Develop, maintain and execute a risk management framework to proactively identify and mitigate remaining HSE risks for the project.
  • Investigation and management of HSE incidents, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective/preventive actions are implemented.
  • Foster a continuous learning environment, promoting the development of HSE skills and knowledge across the organization.
  • Work closely with project staff to ensure there is confidence and understanding of the HSE regulations, policies and processes.
  • Prepare regular reports on HSE performance for senior management, identifying trends, areas for improvement, and success stories.
  • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of HSE incidents and near misses.
  • Lead initiatives to drive continuous improvement in HSE processes and performance.
  • Implement best practices and innovative solutions to enhance the effectiveness of HSE management systems.
  • Facilitate regular reviews and updates of HSE policies, procedures and systems.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory bodies, clients, and industry groups.

Is this the right role for you?

  • Education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in construction safety management, ideally with a focus on Industrial, Commerical, and Institutional construction, including Residential High Rise.
  • Strong knowledge of BC HSE regulations, WCB requirements, standards, and best practices.
  • Proven track record of successful HSE strategy development, cultural change initiatives and implementation, including solid presentation, meeting and training facilitation skills.
  • Demonstrated experience in report writing to a senior level.
  • Proficient leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in HSE management systems and software (HCSS Safety knowledge an asset).
  • Additional safety designations and certifications such as CRSP, NCSO, CPR/First Aid, EMT and OSHA/MSHA
