Modern Niagara’s North Vancouver Special Projects team is seeking a Senior Project Manager!

As the Senior Project Manager, you will lead high-impact mechanical projects, including critical infrastructure like chiller and boiler replacements and mechanical plant room setups. You will manage multiple project cycles with budgets ranging from $500k to $4 million, driving significant improvements in our operations and client satisfaction. Your expertise in plumbing and HVAC, combined with your ability to oversee projects from inception to completion, will be crucial in delivering successful outcomes.

This role offers the unique opportunity to manage your own projects from start to finish, with minimal supervision. You will be the expert in the field, running the show and ensuring seamless project execution. You will manage all aspects of the projects you support, from budgeting and scheduling to procurement and client management. Additionally, you will mentor junior staff and have the potential to grow into a Special Projects Construction Manager role.

The expected salary range for this position is $95,000 - $127,000.

OVERVIEW OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Actively participating and contributing to estimating turnover, and pre-construction meetings
  • Develop and maintain strong client relationship, manage client expectations, and maintain an open line of communication for the full project cycle
  • Ensuring the successful completion of assigned projects, their profitability, and retaining the owner as a key client
  • Attend client and construction meetings as required and disseminate the information to the workforce, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Complete monthly financial forecasting reports and participates in project status review meetings
  • Mentor, coach and contribute expertise and experience to the project team
  • Establishing project objectives, policies, procedures, and performance standards within the boundaries of Modern Niagara policies
  • Monitoring and controlling construction progress through administrative direction of on-site project personnel to ensure projects progress on schedule and within budget
  • Ensure optimum utilization of labour, material, and other resources across all projects
  • Assisting with reviews and negotiation of contracts
  • Monitoring and controlling progress, costs, and budgets throughout the project
  • Attending job site progress walks and monitoring progress and schedule
  • Providing project status/updates to all necessary stakeholder
  • Identifying required and optional changes in project scope; negotiating COs with the owner
  • Ensuring that Modern Niagara’s safety standards are communicated and adhered to
  • Participate in project reviews to foster the continuous process improvements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • 10+ years’ experience in the construction industry in a Project Management capacity with a strong emphasis placed on Mechanical work (HVAC, Plumbing, Mechanical Rooms)
  • Post-Secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent combination of education and trade experience
  • Previous exposure and experience working on Commercial or Institutional projects within a Project Management capacity is highly advantageous
  • Comfortable in managing high-value projects, through the entire project life cycle
  • Experience with a variety of project delivery methods, including design-build and P3s
  • Strong financial acumen and experience working with data and analytics
  • A track record that clearly demonstrates effective leadership when interacting with multiple external clients
  • A track record of building successful teams, effectively motivating people, and maintaining effective relationships with clients and sub-trades
  • Ability to apply innovative and effective management techniques to maximize performance
  • Organized individual who can successfully and effectively prioritize tasks based on demand and deadlines
