The Opportunity:
McElhanney is seeking a highly skilled Survey Party Chief to join our team in Vancouver, BC. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with our Division Managers and Project Managers to ensure projects are completed accurately, efficiently, and in compliance with contractual and legal requirements. The successful candidate will be working on engineering, legal or construction projects in urban and/or rural areas. - Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing is required, as well as pre-site access testing as per client requirements
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Take direction from Project Manager to understand the following: project objectives, allocated budgets, goals, schedules, and timeframes.
- Communicate scope and schedule information to team members, set expectations, and ensure project tasks are completed on time.
- Field completion of various types of surveys including engineering, construction, and legal surveys
- Liaise between Project Manager and client representative.
- Manage information flow from field to office and prepare clear, concise and accurate field notes, records and calculations.
- Ensure implementation of quality assurance, safety, and policy compliance.
- Two-year technical diploma in Geomatics or Civil Engineering with at least 2 years of previous experience in a similar role, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience working in remote environments.
- Physical ability to work in mountainous and forested terrain and ability to lift heavy equipment.
- Willing to work in various environmental conditions with varied terrain, able to work in wildlife populated areas, and willing to work in remote areas for extended periods and varied hours
- Experience with Civil 3D, MicroSurvey and Trimble Business Centre is an asset but not required
- Experience with Underground Utility Locating is an asset but not required
- Valid driver’s license required
