Job Description

As a Paint Prep Technician, you are responsible for ensuring boats are prepped accordingly prior to entering the paint booth. This includes blasting, sanding, buffing and polishing surfaces as required. Other tasks include finding and repairing any pin holes or dents, spraying flotation foam and washing boats.

What will you do?

  • Sandblasting boats in preparation for final prep and painting;
  • Preparing all aluminum parts and surfaces prior to painting – sanding, grinding, buffing, polishing;
  • Washing boats after the body/surface work has been completed;
  • Apply primer as needed;
  • Repair dents and bulges on aluminum surfaces;
  • Spray floatation foam;
  • Follow all applicable KingFisher Boats and WorkSafeBC Occupational Health & Safety regulations.

What do you need to succeed?

  • Effectively and safely operate sanders, grinders, polishers, as well as other tools, equipment, and products used in paint & body operations;
  • High attention to detail is required in order to achieve quality standards;
  • Previous experience in a similar role or training as an Automotive Refinishing Prep Technician is an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Regular periods during which there is continuous physical effort is required, e.g., walking, standing, stooping, climbing, lifting material or equipment, some of which may be heavy or awkward;
  • Exposure to factors such as temperature variations, fumes, moving machinery, humidity, toxic materials which may cause periods of discomfort, high noise levels;
  • Frequent need to give concentrated attention, either hearing or seeing to work being performed;
  • Noticeable pressure from deadlines, production quotas, accuracy or similar demands exists.

Schedule/Shifts

  • Day Shift - Monday to Friday - 4:45 am to 1:15 pm
  • Afternoon Shift - Monday to Thursday - 1:00 pm to 11:30 pm
