In this role, you will:

  • Provide technical support for the contract bid preparation during the planning phase including:
    • Work breakdown
    • Specification clarification
    • Identification of subcontracts
    • Attending meetings as required
  • Create Manageable Tasks and management activities utilizing custom software.
  • Analyze, vet, and interrogate Work Specifications to ensure a full and detailed understanding of customer requirements (including resource and material identification)
  • Investigate and compile a listing of surveys required by the work specification and determine cost coverage recommendations.
  • Resolve conflicting project requirements through having a full understanding of client requirements.
  • When necessary, deputize for the Planning Supervisor and ensure that the direction of the department is followed in relation to strategic direction of the company.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with the client and the client’s agents.
  • Comply with all working practices, standards of discipline, safety, and quality.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

The ideal candidate brings:

  • 4 + years relevant experience
    • Minimum 2 years’ electrical and/or mechanical and/or welding background
    • Minimum 2 years project planning, project management
  • Microsoft Office Suite proficiency
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to communication to all levels of stakeholders
  • Experience using IT systems to control work packages.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) through the Project Management Institute (PMI) or equivalent certification (an asset)
  • Production shipyard experience or having a Navy maintenance background (an asset)
  • Royal Canadian Navy operating systems experience (strong asset)
  • You are eligible for a Canadian Secret Security and ITAR Clearance
