PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:

This position is responsible for preparation of account analysis and reconciliation, month end close activities and reporting, preparation of journal entries, compliance with SOX and management controls, providing support to NSC Billing & Receivables teams as required.

This position can be based in Winnipeg, Manitoba or Kansas City, MO.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Analyze and review financial data, make appropriate recommendations and identify continuous improvement, opportunities and efficiencies
  • Leverage Power BI or similar data technology tools to perform a wide range of tasks such as reporting, building dashboards, building data models and analyzing datasets
  • Ensure adherence to SOX and Internal Controls
  • Support in ensuring appropriate process documentation is accurate and comprehensive (including training materials, audit documents, and work instructions)
  • Support the Billing team in accurate and timely billing practices
  • Publish signed contract rates while ensuring adherence to policy
  • Support the Receivables team in account analysis, reconciliation and resolution
  • Drive process improvement across all areas in Billing and Receivables Management

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance / Accounting
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting practices
  • Working knowledge of invoicing, rating and accounts receivable practices
  • Project management, change management or continuous improvement training considered an asset
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple deadlines and files simultaneously

Background Investigation:

Management Conductor Program:

Becoming a qualified conductor or locomotive engineer is the single best way for a management employee to learn the business at CPKC. You may be required to obtain a certification or to maintain your current certification/qualification as a conductor or locomotive engineer. (Canada and US all Non-Union positions only)
