This position is located at our sales and service dealership in Winnipeg, MB.

THE OPPORTUNITY

The Assistant Service Manager is a part of the dealership leadership team and will be responsible for assisting the Service Manager in the day-to-day running an efficient and profitable service department. In this role you will be responsible for planning, organizing, leading, and controlling the follow of service work and for ensuring high quality standards in serving our customer and will have front line responsibility for interfacing with customers and ensuring the highest level of customer satisfaction.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Works with the Service Manager to forecast goals and objectives for the department and strives to meet them.
  • Establishes and maintains good working relationships with customers to encourage repeat and referral business
  • Monitors and controls the performance of the department using appropriate reports, tracking systems, and surveys
  • Ensures that the daily inventory of technicians' time is consistently sold to service customers.
  • Contributes to the preparation and maintenance an annual operating budget for the service department.
  • Maintains open communications and good relationships with other department personnel - Parts, Body Shop, Sales, Administration, and Credit. Strives for harmony and teamwork within the department and with all other departments.
  • Maintains high-quality service repairs and minimizes comebacks. Conducts periodic spot checks of completed jobs for thoroughness and quality and addresses any customer issues before the customer's vehicle leaves the shop
  • Implements and maintains an effective dispatch system.
  • Schedules shop work to facilitate maximum productivity in accordance with dealership policy and the technician skill level required.
  • Service Advisor responsibilities including scheduling service appointments, greeting customers, writing up repair orders and providing accurate estimates to customers and communicating with customers throughout the service engagement.
  • Opens and closes repair orders.
  • Establishes and maintains 24-hour follow-up with all customers to confirm satisfaction with the service experience and handles any customer issues promptly
  • Ensures the safety of all employees

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Assists with Supervising the Service Advisors and Truck Technicians
  • Assisting with the hiring, training, motivating and monitoring the performance of all service department staff

WHAT WE LOOK FOR

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) essential
  • Post-secondary diploma or trades certification in a related field preferred
  • Heavy duty truck technical knowledge
  • Three years related experience and/or training including some supervisor or lead experience
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Excellent customer relations skills
  • Strong business ethics with a professional approach at all times
  • Functions well with large volume and fast-paced work environment
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Periodically lift up to 25 kgs or 50 lbs
