The Opportunity

Our Canada Gas Operations group has an exciting opportunity to join as a Director for our Mainline and Trans Québec & Maritimes (TQM) Pipeline Operations. The Mainline & TQM span over 15,000 kilometers of pipelines and associated assets in Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Ontario and Quebec, receiving and delivering Natural Gas to a large and varied customer base.

Reporting to the Vice President of Canada Gas Operations (CGO), the Director, Mainline & TQM Operations will lead a large multi-disciplinary team responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation and maintenance of the Mainline and TQM. This is a key leadership position in Canada Gas Operations, and the successful candidate will work closely with the Canada Gas leadership team and other vital stakeholders to ensure commercial and customer expectations are met.

This position can be based in Winnipeg, MB; Calgary, AB; Regina, SK or Bolton, ON (with frequent travel of up to 40%).

What you will do

  • Support TC Energy's value of Safety in Every Step as a safety leader and ambassador
  • Oversee the execution of maintenance programs and projects, including both expense and capital
  • Collaborate with regional leadership team and frontline staff to ensure a strong team culture including a continued focus on proactive safety culture
  • Lead or participate in key initiatives to support delivering on Canada Gas strategic objectives
  • Build strong positive relationships with internal and external customers and stakeholders to optimize outage planning and enable efficient execution of the maintenance strategy and plan
  • Coach and mentor staff in their performance and development to support them in realizing their full potential
  • Develop succession plans that are responsive to TC Energy's current and anticipated business needs
  • Work collaboratively with other regions and business units to share and implement best practices
  • Effectively manage resources to maximize efficiency in planning, forecasting and allocation
  • Develop and manage large and dynamic budgets
  • Understand and manage asset risks and performance
  • Develop and foster an environment which actively enables and encourages employee innovation, continuous improvement and commitment to operational excellence
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, provincial and local regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures pertaining to operations and maintenance
  • Act as a TC Energy community liaison and representative

Minimum Qualifications

  • Post-Secondary Education in a related field
  • 15 years of relevant experience
  • Deep experience in the operation and maintenance of oil/gas pipelines and facilities
  • Proven ability to initiate process improvements that increase efficiency and output
  • Experience in the development and maintenance of key performance indicators
  • Proven ability to coach and mentor staff in performance and development
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively with partners to share and implement best practices
  • Proven leadership track record that engages, motivates and effectively drives performance of team members, as well as promoting a culture of accountability and respect in the workplace
  • Strong leadership, management, judgement and decision-making ability
  • Demonstrated ability to:
    • effectively manage a geographically diverse workforce
    • create and sustain critical partnerships
    • initiate change and help others adapt to a continuously changing environment
    • influence stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for the region, CGO and TC Energy

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of TC Energy's Leadership competencies and a commitment to career development
  • Competency in both English and French

This position requires candidates to:

  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (a record) for review
  • This position will involve travel and overnight stays away from home (estimated up to 40% of work schedule during peak work periods)
  • Occasionally be available for extended work hours outside of standard business hours, call-out support and emergency support as needed
  • Have current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada, US and Mexico)
