Standard Aero is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Furnace Operator/Braze Technician. This role requires proficiency in both furnace operation and brazing techniques, along with the ability to maintain meticulous standards of quality and safety in aerospace component maintenance, repair and overhaul.

Responsibilities:

  • Inspect incoming parts and review process instructions to ensure compliance with quality standards.
  • Perform mechanical cleaning of parts using methods such as stainless-steel grit blasting and glass beading.
  • Prepare and mix brazing filler metal mixtures according to specifications before applying them to metal parts.
  • Operate, program, and control furnaces (vacuum, atmosphere) for heat treating and brazing operations.
  • Utilize thermocouples and dewpoint meters to measure temperature and gas quality, ensuring adherence to process requirements.
  • Inspect parts and furnace equipment after unloading, conducting visual inspections and recording necessary documentation.
  • Collaborate with quality control and engineering teams to troubleshoot and resolve any process issues.
  • Adhere strictly to Standard Aero's safety protocols and procedures, including the handling of hazardous materials.

Technical Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification in welding, brazing, or metallurgy preferred.
  • Familiarity with heat treating processes and equipment.
  • Ability to read, understand, and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Proficiency in the use of precision measuring equipment for dimensional inspection.
  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs without assistance.
  • Successful completion of TOWES (Test of Workplace Essential Skills), facilitated and paid for by Standard Aero (Red Seal Journeypersons excluded).
  • Basic understanding of mechanical and electrical operating systems of industrial furnaces.
  • Thorough knowledge of ferrous and non-ferrous materials.
  • Familiarity with material safety data sheets (MSDS) and protocols for handling hazardous materials.
