JOB PURPOSE:

Reporting to the Director, IT Operations & Platform Support, the Azure Engineer is focused on assisting various Azure stakeholders in the day-to-day operations and new deployments within the McCain Azure environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Use Log Analytics to write a simple query and charts

• Deploying VMs into Virtual Networks

• Configuring VM for Optimum Cost, Performance, and Security

• Backing up VMs and potentially providing Fail-over Recovery

• Securing Data against unauthorized access

• Backing Up Data and making it efficient to restore when needed

• Configuring long-term archival storage to maintain corporate compliance

• Encrypting data in transit, at rest, and in use

• Protecting Azure Active Directory accounts against compromise

• Reducing the attack surface Azure resources

• Deploying and Configuring Azure Firewalls, Azure VPN Gateways and NVAs

• Deploying and Configuring NSGs & ASGs

• Setting up Azure Budgets and Budget Alerts, & Budget Dashboards

• Reporting on Azure Consumption

• Implementing Azure Resource reservations

• Using Terraform to deploy Azure resources, assign RBAC

• Deploying and Configuring Virtual Networks

• Deploying and Configuring Virtual Hubs

• Implementing VNet Peering and Virtual Network Connections

• Orchestrating Routing Paths, especially in a Hybrid Cloud

• Managing Public and Private IP addresses for VMs and selected other Azure resources

KEY QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCES:

  • 5 - 7 years' experience in IT administration/engineering roles
  • 2+ years' experience in Azure administration/engineering
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems or other related field (or equivalent work experience)
  • Broad exposure to IT infrastructure and application landscape ideally with technical depth in Cloud platforms
  • Experience in day-to-day operations in Azure Platform
  • Experience with cost management in Azure Platform
  • Experience in Azure deployments using Jira, Azure DevOps and Terraform
  • Customer service: experience working with users to understand and resolve issues
  • Empathetic listening: the ability to convince the user considering what he/she is experiencing
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals (desired)
  • Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate (desired)

OTHER INFORMATION

  • Key internal relationships: Director, IT Operations & Platform Support, IT Application Support, IT Architects, ITSM Manager, Network Services, IT Security, IT Operations (internal and external).
  • Key external relationships: External vendors, partners and service providers.
  • Travel: as required.
  • Job is primarily performed in a standard office environment. However, this could be remotely during the COVID pandemic period.

Compensation Package 85,500 - 114,000 CAD annually + bonus eligibility

The above reflects the target compensation range for the position at the time of posting. Hiring compensation will be determined based on experience, skill set, education/training, and other organizational needs.
